June 2025

 June came in windy, but we were able to golf with Tracy on Monday the 2nd, holding on to our hats!  We are on the afternoon/evening shifts this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  They are not so hard on me as last week with mornings.  Our presidency meeting was on Wednesday morning from 11-2:30 so that was a little longer day.  We just can't seem to make them any shorter.  We do enjoy being together as a Temple Leadership Council (TLC).  During the week we just pass each other as we come and go on our shifts.  

Friday the 6th, we took George and Kim out for Kim's birthday, then we attended the sealing for Tyna and Steven Reed.  They are Temple Workers on the Saturday shift and fell in love as they served together.  Steven is a widow, and Tyna is divorced with 2 special needs boys.  They are so cute together and will make a wonderful family.  Tyna has not stopped smiling for months.  She has never been taken care of before Steven came into her life and the boys just love him.

Saturday, the Wednesday AM shift had a summer get together.  Since we were off, we decided to attend.  Lon got busy and made two blackberry pies to take.  It was held in Hailey.  This shift starts their preparation meeting at 4:30am.  They really are a family and many of the people who are no longer on the shift came.  It was held at the home of one of these people who had to quit due to health issues.

The pizza dough was furnished and we each put on the toppings that we wanted, the ovens cooked a pizza in only a matter of minutes, they cooked at such a high temperature.

It is fun to have this time to visit as in the temple it's not always easy to just sit and visit.

Monday the 9th Lon and I golfed and that evening we went to George and Kim's for a BBQ.  Becky Clarkson and Maddie were in town, so we had a wonderful visit with them.  

We were off the 10th so Lon and LaRon got some fishing in at CJ Strike.  

Spent the rest of the week golfing, rock chuck hunting and opening the temple on Friday and Saturday.  The temple has been busy, so our days go by very fast.  

We have been asked to attend the Marriage and Family Relations class on Sundays.  We are the oldest ones there.  One couple was saying that they just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and we could double plus that.  It's interesting to listen to them and think, been there and done that.  I think we have done pretty well these 53 years and truly are happily married and love being together.  Hopefully we can share some incite that will help the other class members.   Tracy and Sarah invited us to dinner today to celebrate Father's Day.  We had a wonderful pork loin dinner and great conversation.  Talked to the others on the phone.

Lon and LaRon are doing some wheeling and dealing again😏.  They think they need to sell the fishing camper and Lon's boat and purchase a boat that has the sleeping compartment and kitchenette on it.  They are doing some serious shopping on line.

Our big week with 3 mornings and 2 pm shifts.  On Thursday we got home just in time to meet LaRon and see the new boat!

Sunday, June 22, 2025, our anniversary!  53 years!  It doesn't seem possible.  We usually celebrate our anniversaries by doing sealings in the temple.  But today, we settled on a much needed 2-hour nap and reading our lesson for Sunday School.

We've changed a bit!!  We are so blessed to have each other!

Monday morning, Lon and LaRon took the new boat out for the first time.  Everything seemed to work great except the motor ran too hot and the trolling motor didn't go side to side correctly.  They have some work to do on both. 😖

24th, 25th, and 26th we were on the PM shift.  We have lots of future missionaries coming to receive their endowment, so we are busy with instruction.  It is so fun to meet and teach these young people about the temple.  One of the highlights of this calling.  Lon even got to do a Spanish sealing on Wednesday.  

Our day off was Friday so we decided to head to Oakley to visit with Tim and Ray Archibald.  They are brothers and distant cousins (we just found out) of Lon.  They have a wood splitting business and Lon went to help them out today.  We took black berry pies to them.

It was a very hot day

Ray has the bigger splitter and does the larger logs.  A company who cuts trees brings all the trees that are too big for normal splitters to handle and these two split them and sell them for fire wood,

Lon helped them for about 2 and1/2 hours and was totaled! He was so thankful when they decided it was too hot and time to quit.

Both Ray and Tim and their wives are temple workers.  Such great people.  I spent the time with Cheri, Ray's wife, learning about the Oakley Valley Arts Council and the upcoming play at the Howells Opera House.  

Cheri is the assistant director helping her daughter.  We will be at the Matinee in July!  

We got home in time for Lon to head to LaRon's to work on the boat.

We got to spend some time at Mike and Judy's on Saturday morning.  They are getting the last of the house packed up and moving to Kuna.  We brought their meat from the freezer to our house, so they didn't have to worry about getting it there safe now.  They can get the freezer moved and turned on and we will deliver the meat later.  It was hard to say good-bye.  So happy they found a house that is not so big with so much land to care for and they are closer to their cabin in Atlanta, but I will miss our monthly sister's lunches!  We went to the temple with Sarah and Tracy and then Eisley met us for dinner to celebrate Sarah's birthday.  We tried the Mo'Bettahs Hawaiian restaurant.  Good food, but way too big of portions!

Lon has always wanted to experience Church in Grouse Creek so today we went with the Harris's who are speaking in this branch.  We left the house at 7:30 and met the Harris's at their house at 8:30. They drove us to Oakley, where we met up with the Gibby's and the Barnards. (both temple workers).  The Gibby's and Barnards are assigned to attend and help this branch as a two year calling.  The Harris's road with Gibby's and we went with the Barnard's in their trucks.  The gravel road works best in a truck they told us.  We had about 35 miles of gravel going south out of Oakley.  Grouse Creek is in Utah, but it is in the Oakley Stake and in our temple district.  They have a nice church there and a new grade school.  The older children go into either Tremonton or Oakley to attend High School, living there the whole school year with family or friends.  Just as we drove into Grouse Creek, we had a flat tire on the pickup.

Brother Barnard couldn't get anyone on the phone to come help, but just as we were about to start walking, a family stopped and delivered us safely to the church.  While we were in church, a less active member changed the tire for us.  Sister Harris spoke and then Lon and I sang our testimony. "I Know that My Redeemer Lives".  Then President Harris took the rest of the meeting.  President Harris then taught the Adult Gospel Doctrine class while Lon and I attended Primary.  Lon spoke to the Senior Primary for about 15 minutes while I had the Junior Primary.  What a fun experience.  I had 5 kids and Lon had 4.

No one told us about changing clothes to attend the Linger Longer!  But we headed to the fairgrounds for the picnic.

He even brought an ice cream machine, so we had ice cream with the desserts.  There are 2 roads into Grouse Creek, we took one on the way in and the other on the way home.  Beautiful country and with the commentary from the Barnards we learned a lot.  What a wonderful day!  What a treat to spend our Sabbath with the Harris', Gibby's, Barnard's and the Grouse Creek Branch.  We got home at 8:30 exhausted and very content.  Today was all and more than we had hoped it would be.

June 30th, last day of another month.  Lon and LaRon went to Salmon Falls Reservoir to run the boat again with the new thermostat installed.   Nothing changed, the motor still ran too hot!  Dropped the boat off at Snake River Boat and Marine to have it looked at.  Got a call on the camper, will show it tomorrow.  June has come to an end.
