July 2025

 The first of July, Tuesday, and we are off until the 3rd.  Mike Rasch called and wants to see the camper this morning.  We hurried and got it uncovered and started checking out the appliances to make sure everything was in good working order.  He is looking for something for his son to live in as he has moved back home.  He is very interested and will bring his son and wife back this evening to check it out.  We went golfing and then to Twin to buy the next size taller toilet for our bathroom.  We didn't measure the one we have and just trusted the salesman that he knew what he was talking about.  We came home and installed the new toilet, and I can't touch the floor when I sit down on it.  We needed the size in between😂.  Lon laughed at me each time he saw me trying to use this new toilet, so we ended up putting it in the guest bathroom and got the right size for me.  Mindi says that we need to put a sign on the guest bathroom door that says it's for 5'7" people only😂😂.

Lon has been working on the camper to get it all working right so we can sell it to Mike.  We are having trouble with the refrigerator.  It won't light.  Not good.  Mike and his family came to look at it again and will think about it.  We're not sure they will buy it.  We'll have to wait and see if they return or not.

We celebrated the 4th of July by golfing in the morning, finishing getting the camper ready to sell, the frig works!, and visiting with George and Kim.  

We traded with the Harris's on Saturday, so we closed the temple.  It was a great shift.  We had a very relaxing Sunday and watched the movie about the play we are going to in Oakley on the 19th.  The Pirates of Penzance is a musical, different than I had expected.  Hopefully Lon will be able to enjoy the play?

Boat Saga--- Lon and LaRon picked up the boat from the Marina.  They charge over $200.00 an hour just to look at it and try to discover the problem.  President Allen has a boat similar to this one, and he thinks that it just needs a new impeller.  They took the boat to the Allen's shop and tore it apart.  They discovered that there was nothing wrong with the impeller, and when they got it put back together, the motor wouldn't go into neutral or reverse.  So discouraging for them.  They had spent most of the day at the Allen's and still no boat.  Now they have to decide if they continue to try and repair the motor, could be thousands of dollars to do so, or do they just quit now and take their losses.  They brought the boat back to LaRon's and got it parked.  When Lon went to go home, his truck wouldn't start😝!  What more could go wrong today!  The wrecker came to take it to Tony's shop to fix it.  He saw a problem with the front wheel and thought that was the reason we had called him.  We didn't know there was any problems with the wheel.  If the impeller had worked, Lon would have gone from the Allen's to Salmon Falls Reservoir with the boat and could have lost the front wheel on the way.  What we thought was a real bad day, ended up with a miracle that the truck and boat and Lon and LaRon were not involved with a bad wreck.  They were being watched over and were truly blessed with safety today.

Sold the camper to Mike Rasch after all.  We just have to deliver it to him when he is ready.  

Our big week again.  The mornings are so hard for me.  I just can't get enough good sleep to feel like I'm alert and alive. Lon tries to golf in the afternoons so he can get to sleep early.  It is so hot that it has been hard.  On Friday the 11th, LaRon sold the boat!  Probably the shortest ownership ever!  The man who bought the boat is a mechanic and loves to fix up things.  Hopefully he can get it to run.  By selling the boat, camper and a motor, Lon and LaRon came out even again.  Now they just have to put Lon's boat back together again because they won't be selling it after all.  Hopefully these two can be content with what they have for a while. 

Mike called and is ready for the camper to be delivered, but we don't have the truck back yet!  We borrowed George's truck and went to deliver the camper.  We would have never got it parked with our truck.  The space was so tight that our longer truck would not have made the turns that George's was able to do.  We are being watched over and blessed.  

Mindi came to town on Thursday the 17th.  What a special treat.  We golfed Friday morning.

Mindi thought Lon's battery operated golf cart was great.

  We were sad that Tracy had forgotten that Mindi was here.  He was supposed to be in court but could have joined us instead.  Mindi and I made apricot jam then we all went to the temple to do some sealings with Tracy and Sarah.  What a great day.  Eisley joined us afterword at Idaho Joe's for supper.  

Mindi left Saturday morning, and we headed to Burley to pick up Dave and Marilyn Gibbons to head to Oakley Opera House to see the play ""The Pirates of Penzance".

B.P.Howells built this in 1907 for $22,000.  It was the only theatre between Salt Lake City and Boise.  The Howells sold the theatre to the LDS church in the 1920's, but by the 1970's it was facing the wrecking ball.  The community bought it from the church and saved it and transformed it into a haven for the arts.

The church used it as the Cassia Stake Playhouse and installed movie projectors in the back of the balcony.  In the 1970's when faced with the decision to tear it down or build it up, the community stepped up and it is thriving today. 

We attended the matinee with the Gibbons.  The performance was outstanding.  We really enjoyed it. Afterwards, we went back to Burley and had a halibut dinner at a new restaurant right on the river. A great day spent with good friends, great entertainment and good food.  What more could you ask for?  Maybe a picture or two? 😂

Monday morning, the 21st, Lon and I golfed then Craig and Robbie came for a visit.  Lon, Randy Welch, Kurt and Craig went golfing and Robbie and I enjoyed a day of visiting.  Nice relaxing day with family.

On the 22nd, Lon and LaRon went to Salmon Falls Reservoir with Lon's boat.  All went well and they brought home some walleye.  Great tasting fish!  They went to Magic on Wednesday and brought home perch and bass.  

                    BURLEY TEMPLE OPEN HOUSE AND DEDICATION ANNOUNCED!!!

We as a temple family are sooo excited for this to finally happen.  We had thought, as a presidency that we would have this happen in our time, but the new presidency will deal with it instead.

The open house will run from Nov 6th to Nov 22nd.  The dedication will be on January 11th.

The Temple Presidency is beginning to interview and set apart workers.  The workers can still serve in our temple until we have sufficient workers to replace them or until December 6th.  That is the target date to release all Burley workers but, if need be, they can serve here until the dedication.  Exciting times!!!

Gene came to town on the 23rd.  We had Presidency meeting Thursday the 24th, then Lon and Gene went golfing.  We opened Friday and Saturday so they couldn't golf till the afternoons.  Lon was getting so tired by Saturday.  Keeping up with a 92-year-old was tough.  They golfed 82 holes in 3 days, hard for a young man but Gene really loved his time here. We can see him really slowing down, but we love having him visit. 

On the 25th, Ethan Thompson, Kip's son with prodder willie syndrome, came to receive his endowment.

Lon was thrilled to be able to give him his instruction.  Ethan is such a special young man, and his parents are doing a wonderful job teaching him all he can understand.  A special day in the temple.

Saturday the 26th was the first Saturday in our presidency that we had no live ordinances done in the temple.  We were all kind of in shock.  Such a quiet Saturday!

On Sunday the 27th, our little Spanish branch was made a ward.  

We did our normal P-Day activities on Monday, after a golf round.  Then we prepared for our long week with mornings three days then nights the last two days.

Thursday, our last early mornings for July, we had presidency meeting then stayed and attended an endowment session at 2:30.  We then went to the Pizza Factory to attend the Thursday Mid Shift summer party.

We are going to miss our association with these amazing temple workers.  It has been so fun to get to know and love so many of Heavenly Father's children through this calling.

We ate, visited for a little while, then headed home for some much needed

 sleep, a long day!

And another month has come to an end.  We only have one more month in this capacity.  In fact, Saturday night was our last time to serve on the Saturday PM Shift.  We are beginning our "last" time for everything.  Kind of sweet and sad all at once.
