March 2024

 March came in like a lion!  It is a reminder that spring is not here yet.  We had a good snow storm on Sunday the 3rd.  

It was very wet and heavy, so Lon didn't even try the snow blower.

We went to the funeral for LaDon Harris on Monday.  She is the daughter of Judy Cottom.   I played the organ and Lon had to say the blessing on the food for the luncheon.  They had about 40 people at the service.  Lon and I stayed to help with the cleanup.  It was not a day of rest for us. 

Dick and Kyla came to town on Wednesday the 6th. (I had another minear's attack at the temple this afternoon.  Kyla took good care of me.  Glad they are in town. I was back on my feet by Thursday morning). They stayed till Friday morning then headed to Utah to visit with Clay.  They didn't get into any snow till Bliss.  It looks like the sun will shine for their trip to Logan.  We had a nice visit and Mom loved having them here.

Hadley is now 5 months old.  So precious.  

We had Friday and Saturday off, the 8th and 9th.  We went to Idaho Joe's for breakfast on Saturday with George and Kim.  Lon spent Saturday evening at Kent Yost's shop changing out our breaks and headlight on the car with George's help.  We've been asked to speak at the Carey Stake Conference on the 24th, and in our ward for Easter so we are busy preparing talks.

Kim and George had us over for taco soup on Tuesday the 12th then we went for a drive to see the "Eagle Tree".

It depends on the weather as to when they arrive and when they leave.

They have had as many as 80 there at a time.  We were almost too late, but we got to see about 10-12 of them in the trees.  (These are pictures that the farmer has taken with his good camera.  We couldn't get close enough with my phone to get good pictures.)

Whenever you take a drive with George, you never know just what you will find.

We opened Friday and Saturday and the temple closed for the 2 weeks of cleaning and repairs.  We headed to St. George on the 18th for our annual visit/golf marathon.  We decided to stop in Parowan again this year to visit with Diana and Dennis Peterson.  We went to lunch at DeDe's Farmhouse Cafe.

We enjoyed our visit and then headed on down to Hurricane to stay with Gene and Norma for the next couple of days.  Lon and Gene golfed at South Gate this year.  Norma was not feeling great so we just stayed home and visited while they were gone. They have a family of wild turkeys in their yard every morning.

The guys golfed Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings.  

On Tuesday evening, we took Aunt Charlotte Whatcott out to dinner and visited with her.

Aunt Charlotte is 96 now and still living along.  She would like to fine someone to move in and do the cooking and cleaning but so far hasn't found anyone.

On Wednesday evening we went to the Hughes for dinner and visiting.

We served with Jon and Karen in the Santiago, Chile mission.

we hope to take a trip to Nauvoo when we finish our mission if we are all heathy enough to do it.  Karen is starting to show signs of early dementia now, so we'll just have to see how she is by then. 

Lon and Gene watched a lot of basketball in the evenings, March Madness!

On Thursday we had to have Del Taco (Gene's favorite food). Lon shot his age, 74, and had an eagle and a couple of birdies on Friday.   After golfing on Friday, the 22nd, we headed to Mindi and Justin's place in Utah.  We had supper with everyone but Hannah's family.  Isaac was even home for the weekend.  We ate pizza, watched basketball and visited.  Nice evening.  Saturday morning, everyone came for breakfast.

Loren and Nathan who just moved to Bountiful and are both starting new jobs.  They are very glad to be out of school finally.

We got home around 4 and spent the evening preparing for our talks for the Carey Conference on Sunday.

March 24th.  The Carey Stake Conference was wonderful.  Elder Jimenez from Antofagasta, Chile was the visiting general authority.  Our talks went well, and we enjoyed being taught by Elder Jimenez.  After, we went again to the home of the Stake President, President Parker for lunch.  We love visiting with his parents who we served with in Boise and Twin Falls temples for years.  

Our practices for the "Lamb of God" production are getting more intense.  Lon gets discouraged but still keeps going and trying.  The music is amazing, and I am enjoying singing with Carson again.

As we are still on our two-week break from the temple, we drove to Pocatello to visit that temple.  We did an endowment session and a sealing session.  This is a very big temple compared to ours.

They have 4 shifts per day.  We are glad that we only have 3 shifts.  It seemed that there was never anyone around to direct us as to where to go, they were always in preparation meetings.  We had only been to the sealing of Nathan and Loren here so it was fun to see the rest of the temple.  It was a great day.

On Thursday, Lon headed to Challis for a fishing trip with Ron Bloxham.  

The plan was to catch steelhead. They caught everything but steelhead; white fish, suckers, bullhead and several other varieties.  It was cold but these two had a great time fishing anyway.  Lon drove home Friday night.  Good to have him home.

We went to our ward Easter Brunch on Saturday morning.  We spent most of the day making pies for our ministering families and going over our talks for tomorrow.  

Happy Easter!  We had choir practice at 8am then we gave our talks in Sacrament meeting.  I think they went well

.  We then spent a couple of hours with Tracy and Sarah and the kids.  We had a great dinner and visited till time for Lamb of God practice at 5.   We are starting to have longer practices and twice a week when our temple schedule will allow.  Only 3 weeks till the performance.

I am only 3 months behind now that I have March done.  Hoping to find more time and energy to get caught up in June!  Time just seems to fly.  It has been a cold windy spring so far.  Hoping for a warmer April.
