We decided that if we were going to get to golf in Boise with Shayla and Justin we had better do it fast as the weather is changing. We went to Boise on the 6th, Friday and met up with Shayla and Justin. We golfed at the Shadow Valley Golf Course. It turned out to be a beautiful fall day. It is a beautiful course with lots of hills and valleys. We were very thankful that we took carts. I only played 9 holes but rode along as the other three finished the back 9. AND NO FOTOS!! We met up with Ryanne and Gideon for a late lunch. We went to Big Judd's and enjoyed the food and the company. AND STILL NO FOTOS! But it really did happen.
We had our first snow fall on the 8th, but it didn't stick or last long. But our temperatures have definately taken a downward plunge. I visit my Mom on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We still can only visit at her window as we talk on the phone. Some days are soo cold that our visits are not to long as I am freezing with mid thirties and a stiff west wind beating against my back. BURR!!
The 10th and the snows came again
We are pretty sure that our golfing has come to an end. The snow didn't stick but it came again on the 13th.
And this time it actually stayed around for a few days.
Our days are settling into a routine. With the cold, there is no golfing so we go to the Rec District each day and get in our 4 mile walk. Going around and around a circle inside is definately not as much fun but at least we are getting some exercise. I can't do a 15 minute mile anymore😞 so it usually takes an hour and 10 minutes. Just getting older!
Lon and George try to fish as much as the weather will permit but it's time to wait for the ice to freeze over so they can go ice fishing.
Monday, Wednesday and Fridays I go to Twin and visit Mom each afternoon. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings I pick up Alma at the dialysis center in Twin Falls and bring her home. Alma is a member of our ward. She is blind and on the list for a new kidney. The transport company has refused to pick her up anymore. They don't like the liability of going up and down the stairs to her apartment and carrying her bags and oxygen and helping to guide her. Sister Jennifer Parsons, our Relief Society President takes her over to Twin at 5:30am and I pick her up at 11:00am. She lives in the white apartment building across from the hospital on Lincoln. It is a real dump! We are trying to get her to move to Twin so that it will be easier for her to get to dialysis. Until covid-19 is under control that possibility looks very bleak. She tried visiting a few low-income housing places but no one answers their doors. They want you to do everything by phone or on line. She doesn't even want to think about assisted living because she would be on lock-down and her family couldn't visit.
Our covid numbers have been raising again. We can no longer sing in church. The organist plays the hymns so everyone can follow along, if they have their own music. There are no hymn books out.
Thanksgiving was great. We went to Tracy and Sarah's house this year. We went over right after noon and played Monopoly. I had never played it before but Sarah, Ashton, Chandler, Eisley and I had a great time while Lon and Kona hung out and watched some basketball and football.
Kona just got home after being lost for 8 days and she is not back to her old self yet.
Tracy had to work but he popped in to get the turkey breasts into the smoker and gave us instructions about what to do next.
He popped in later to tell Chandler and Grandpa how to get the other turkey into the fryer. We waited for Tracy to get off work before we ate. Everyone enjoyed having dessert before our dinner. Everything tasted great.
Eisley always enjoys trying to eat the entire drum stick.
We had just settled into a game of Phase 10 when friends showed up so instead of cards, we all had dessert again. It was a very nice day spent with family.
On the 22nd of November we got a new bishopric.
1st Councilor Aaron Martin, Bishop Cody Bingham, 2nd Councilor Jared Jackson
Jared has never worn a suit that I can remember. He said that when you have to order a suit from the tent maker it takes a while so his new suit wasn't done yet. We are excited to watch the growth in these three. We know that they have been called of God.
Lon was able to end the month of November on a very happy note. It got clear up to 45 degrees on Monday the 30th so he went golfing!
One cold month down! We are so thankful for a warm house to live in.
