Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9

December 2020

With the cold weather settling in, I know that my golfing has come to a close for the year.  Lon, however, was not ready for a winter defeat and was thrilled when the temperatures got clear up to 40 and he was able to go golfing on the 8th and 9th.  The golf course officially closed on the 10th as the snow fell and the temperatures again fell below 30.  ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜’

Our exercise now consists of walking around and around the track at the Rec Center.  60 laps makes 4 miles but it takes a little more than an hour now.  I am getting slower but at least I am still moving.

I have been worried about winter and Lon.  With no temples to visit and no golfing now, what was he going to do to keep from going crazy?  Kip came to the rescue.

#3 in our little mobile home park, now Kip's park, has been empty for a year and a half.  Kip hasn't had time to do any work on it.  He asked Lon if he would like to get it ready to rent.  He had to build a wall between the front room and the kitchen.

The kitchen.
Lon has it taped and ready to paint the ceilings.
The walls are built in the kitchen and painted.
He had to borrow tools from Tracy as we don't have any anymore.

We have been shopping for the cabinets, carpets, linoleum and bathroom.  Lon will be ready to start installing them in January.  This is a great project for Lon.  He can work on it whenever he gets bored, which is everyday that has no football game to watch.
I have been busy with visiting Mom each Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon.  Somedays are soo cold that the visit isn't very long as we are still not able to go inside but visit at the window.  On Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings I pickup Alma at Dialysis.  I do enjoy putting puzzles together and reading books.
We got Christmas ready and mailed and some baking done and delivered.  We spent Christmas Eve at home with a ham dinner and went to Tracy and Sarah's early Christmas Day.
We gave each of the kids a magic box with their Christmas money inside.  They had to figure out how to open the box in order to get the money.  Nathan figured it out in seconds, Dillon was first there, Debbie taught everyone, and Ashton figured it out here.

It was fun to be with the kids as we opened our gifts

Eisley putting new ears on Kona

Sarah made a delicious breakfast casserole and we brought over the cinnamon rolls that the Jackson's gave us.

We were spoiled by our children.  Lon opening our new air fryer from Ginger's family.  We have tried meatloaf, bacon, french fries and tater tots.  We are loving it.

Our new door mat from Tracy's family.  We received new clothes, photos, books, puzzles, coupons.  But the best gifts were the phone calls and visits as we were able to visit with family.  Lon and I ran to visit with Mom while Tracy prepared the turkey to be deep fat fried.  We ate way too much and got home about 7pm.  What a great Christmas Day.
On the 26th, Shayla and Justin came to visit with 5 of the 7 kids plus our great grandson Kendrix.
He really enjoyed playing with the antique toys, but I think his uncles Dillon and Gideon enjoyed them more.  With the tree and the long legs of our grandchildren, our living room really felt small.
Shayla, Kyleigh, Ryanne, Aydan, and Gideon.
Mason and Riley had to work.
This bunch helped eat our leftovers from Christmas Eve.๐Ÿ˜€
And 2020 has come to a close.  It's been a strange year with the pandemic.  It is still raging but the vaccine has been produced.  Our first responders have received the shot and now the rest of the world will begin to receive it.  There is light at the end of the tunnel, finally.  We will begin 2021 with social distancing and masks still in place, but we have hope for spring.
We are able to attend Sacrament Meeting each Sunday with no singing, masks, and social distancing.  But at least we are able to be with part of our Ward Family. We are praying for the opening of our temples, churches, schools, and especially Serenity Care Center.   This social distancing has been very hard on Mom.
She continues to be such a good example of kindness and love, but having that personal touch is starting to wear on her.  Everyone needs a HUG!
We are not sad to see 2020 come to an end and are anxious for the new year - hopefully the year of the HUG!
