OCTOBER 2020

 On October 2nd, Leon Leavitt drove down from Shelly, Idaho to join Lon and George for a fishing trip to Magic Reservoir.  The water level is way down.  The trout are not biting well but the perch and bass have been fun to catch and we really like the white meat.

filleting the fish in our back yard.  Leon had never filleted fish before so he got to practice on a few.  They only caught 4 trout, the rest are bass and perch.  And that was the end of Lon's fishing for the month as he started driving truck for the sugar beet harvest. 

Lon started driving in the beets on the 8th and went non-stop until the 22nd, Monday through Saturday from 7am to 7 or 8pm.  He got the 22nd off because of a funeral for the Bingham's.  Then they went from the 23rd till the 29th, getting the 26th and 27th off because it was too cold to dig.

My month was spent getting doctor yearly visits and dentist visits taken care of.  The highlight of the month for me was on the 15th when Shayla and Mindi came down and spent the night with us.  Then the three of us went golfing to celebrate our birthdays, Shayla's on the 2nd, Mindi's on the 31st, and mine on the 28th.

This whole month has been cold and windy but the 16th was a very nice day.

Shayla said that this is the perfect ladies day trip, three sets of golf clubs!

We really had a great time enjoying the fresh air together.  After we got home and cleaned up, we met Tracy, Sarah and Ashton at Janitzio's Mexican Restaurant for lunch.  (forgot to take a foto)

What a beautiful way to celebrate our October birthdays.  We plan to make it a yearly tradition!

The week of the 19th was again my turn to lead the on-line discussion group for Relief Society.  And again for the second month we also had a funeral that Saturday.  So again I had double duty to organize.  Lue Walker passed away.  She has never been active so not too many people knew who she was.  At first the family thought we would have 125 people at the funeral dinner.  When questioned, they got it down to 80.  I was still very skeptical about that high of a number but we went ahead and planned it.  Just as the funeral for the Robinson's was smaller than expected due to the covid, this funeral was even smaller.  We only fed 32.  We had sooo much food left over.  Thankfully the family wanted to take everything that was left so we were able to get rid of it easily.  

We finished the month out by golfing on the 30th and 31st.  We can tell that our golf days are starting to be limited due to the cold weather.  We went at noon so that it would warm up some.  We spent the afternoon of the 31st with Tracy and Sarah (the kids were all gone to Halloween parties).  We visited and watched BSU beat Air Force.  Sarah had made a delicious chile with rolls and we brought over a berry pie.  We didn't get home in time for any trick-o-treaters to come but before we left we took candy to Raul's house for his grandkids.  

Another month has come and gone.  Covid-19 is still in control😟.  We attend Sacrament Meeting at 1:00 but are allowed to sing the hymns again.  We have to wear masks and sit every other row.  We sure do miss the warm friendship of our ward family.  Shaking hands is not permitted.  We long for our temple to be opened again.  So far, our schools here are open, but with so many new cases daily, that could change any time.
