Tuesday the 22nd. We were thrilled to be able to serve in the temple this morning. We had to be there by 10:30am for preparation meeting. We didn't think that anyone would be able to come because of transportation challenges and fears. Yesterday 28 young Elders and Hermanas were brought into the hospedaje (the housing at the temple where we stay with our incoming missionaries). They were from the South Mission and were not safe to stay there. So this morning we had 28 young missionaries in the first session along with about 4 other patrons. The second session only had 5 people in it. We were so thankful that we could be there to serve these people and to feel the peace of the House of the Lord. We received a text when we left the temple telling us to not stop at the office on our way home but to come straight home as there was a protest scheduled near the office.
We were so saddened when we received word of the vandalism of one of our chapels.
This is the Violeta Cousino Ward building in La Reina. It is only about 15 minutes away from us. We had a Capilla Abierta here. This is one of the reasons that we are not to wear our name tags and are to dress in every day street clothes, not looking like missionaries right now.
It is a sad time for Chile. We are safe and all of our missionaries are safe. You are in our prayers and we pray that you will keep the people of Chile and our missionaries in your prayers. We send our love.
