February has begun with a real spiritual high. I subbed on the Friday AM shift on the 2nd while Lon went fishing with George. They only caught 2 as the water is high and muddy from last years run off because of all the snow we had last winter. Then on Saturday the 3rd, we took Ysidro and Maria Gonzales to the Temple to do Spanish Sealings then to dinner at the Sizzler. It was so fun to be with these two great friends. It is hard to get together when you attend different wards so hopefully we can do this every time there is a Spanish speaking Sealer at the Temple on a Saturday.
On Monday the 5th, Lon and Tracy went golfing. It was a beautiful day. They went to Clear Lakes in Buhl as it is in the canyon and out of the wind. We met Kurt and Linda Thompson at Jaker's for supper. We had a gift certificate to use and this was our dinner to celebrate Lon and Kurt's birthdays. December just isn't a good month to try to get together. We ate and visited for about 3 hours. It was so good. We just don't get together often enough.
On the 8th, I picked up Mom and we met Judy and Debbie at Perkin's for lunch. We hadn't told Mom that Debbie was in town so it was a nice surprise. Then Debbie and I took Mom to do some shopping and copy some photos that she wanted done. It was a nice day with Mom and my little sisters. I didn't get home till 4:30. Lon got home from BZ at 5 and we got ready and went to Shoshone for the Scout Recognition Banquet.
On Friday the 9th, George and Kim picked us up at 4 and we headed to the temple for our ward sealing session. We had the Garth Bingham's, the Cody Bingham's, the Keith Thompson's, the Lon Thompson's, the George Orr's, and Sister Shewmaker. We had 3 ex-bishops from the Jerome 2nd Ward and all 5 men had been counselors in the bishopric at one time or another in the ward as well. It was a wonderful session. Keith is really showing his age, 92, and we were thrilled to spend this time with him and Phyllis. After the session, George, Kim, Lon and I went to Idaho Joe's for supper. We hardly ever go out to eat, and in one week we have eaten out 5 times!
The weather was beautiful on the 8th so Lon and I went golfing. My first time for this year. We had a great time and didn't golf too bad. Lon went again with Tracy on Friday so he has golfed three times this week.
Saturday the 10th was our Stake Conference. I had to direct the music for the Saturday evening session with Sarah Hope at the organ. It was a wonderful conference. Our Stake Presidency are all such good speakers.
After such a great warm week, this is what we woke up to on Monday the 12th.
Talk about discouraging!! But at least the roads were warm enough that it didn't stick there. It warmed up by the end of the week so the snow is gone but the wind and colder temps are back with us. YUP, the groundhog was right and we have 6 more weeks of winter to endure.
I know, it is still only February but last week really wetted our appetites for spring to get here.
We watched the Winter Olympics all week and had to start walking at the rec center again, going around and round to get our 4 miles in each day.
Sunday the 18th, while we were in church, our car was hit.
Cody Bingham was out of town and the babysitter brought the kids to church in Cody's van. She backed into us. I guess sometimes it is just dangerous to attend Church! Luckily it happened at church so we know who did it and they will pay for the repairs.
Winter is here again, 12 degrees with a 20 mile an hour wind blowing! We had snow again and will have snow on the ground as February comes to an end.
On the 22nd, Mom, Judy and I again went to Perkins for lunch.
Mom really enjoyed their fish and wanted to eat it again. It was snowing but the roads were clear. After lunch, I took Mom to do a little shopping. We texted Ginger and told her that we were celebrating her birthday without her.
We attended the Stake High Priest Dinner on Friday the 23rd. Mom needed a haircut on Monday the 26th so we braved another snow storm and got it done. She has a 90th birthday party for Beth Poulsen to attend on Saturday so we had to get the hair done. We used the back door of the salon so she didn't have to do any stairs. She was very weak and shaky today.
Today is the 28th and we got our 4 mile walk in at the Rec Center and are getting ready to go to the temple for our pm shift. They are predicting more snow for tonight but we hope to be home before it hits. We have about 4 inches in the backyard but the roads are bare. February is a short month but we ended up subbing 6 times, doing one double shift once, and were able to attend every Friday except for one as patrons. We have finished our Family File Names and are getting more from Craig and Mindi. It is fun to do the work for our ancestors.
