YOU CAN'T GO BACK AND CHANGE THE BEGINNING, BUT YOU CAN START WHERE YOU ARE AND CHANGE THE ENDING!
We are starting to feel cooped in as the winter weather rages on. On the 3rd, we went out to the rec center and bought a month walking pass, $18.00. It is just too cold and windy to walk outside right now. We will see how long the cold lasts so will take it month by month. We are hoping that by March we will be out golfing and walking again.
On the 2nd, we picked up Chandler and Ashton and went to the Temple with Kurt and some of his grandchildren to do Baptisms for the dead. We had some family file names that needed done. It was very special as Gaven (Brett's boy) and one of Leon Leavitt's grandsons were able to be the baptizer, baptizing their sisters and cousins. Gregg, Brett, Kurt, Lon, Vebecca, Linda and I helped where needed. What a special evening! Gregg's son who is not old enough to attend the temple yet had researched the names.
We walked Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 4 miles and it feels good but walking around in a circle sure is boring!
The Temple closed for cleaning the next two weeks. We decided not to go anywhere. The weather is just so unpredictable this year, one day of sunshine, then rain, then snow, and of course the blow! It is cold so we are just staying close to home.
Shayla needed help these two weeks that the temple was closed so we were thankful that we could be there for her. We went to Boise on the 10th and attended the Meridian Temple. Wow, that is one huge temple! We went to dinner with Shayla and saw the car that she is thinking of buying. It is a very nice car and will get such better gas mileage than the Nissan Armada that she has.
Our Ward Conference was on the 14th. The choir sang and did a fantastic job. They really make me look good. They sing with such conviction and feeling. I really enjoy this calling, even though sometimes I worry if anyone will come to practice or not. With our meetings starting at 9:00AM this year, we are having choir practice at 8:00AM. On these cold dark mornings sometimes that is hard for people to get there that early.
We have had a January thaw and Lon and Junior Robinson were able to go golfing on the 15th! They went to the Muni in Twin Falls. They froze!! I keep telling them that it is still winter and try to be patient.
We went to Boise again on the 17th and went to visit with Ralph and Jennie Wolverton (Lon's Aunt and Uncle - Esther's baby sister) who moved there in December. They have bought a nice home just about a mile from Craig and Robbie's but are not in their ward. We will miss them here but are glad that they are near to their children so they will have help when needed. They are 89 and 86 years young.
We went to the Boise Temple this time and enjoyed a session there then met up with Shayla for dinner again. She is making some hard, but very sound decisions and we are trying to be there to support her and help in any way that we can. She has found a nice duplex and we will head up on Friday to move her and the kids.
When Chandler and Ashton got out of school on Friday the 20th, Chan drove to our house and we loaded into our car and headed to Boise. Shayla had rented a U-Haul and these three boys worked till bed time with Grandpa to get it loaded.
Shayla, Ryanne, her girlfriend, and I cleaned up behind them as they emptied a room. We plan to have the old house empty and cleaned and the new house put together before we head for home on Saturday afternoon. These three saved Grandpa's back as they did all the lifting and carrying.
It was about 3:00 when we finally stopped to feed everyone before we headed for home. The old house looks great and the new house only has pictures to hang and a few personal boxes for Shayla and the kids to unpack. We really were a great team and accomplished so much!
We went to Big Judd's for burgers and fries. Chan and Ashton and Ryanne's girlfriend had never been there before. They all were amazed at the 1 pound burger and basket of fries.
We ordered 3 burgers with fries and tater tots.
The kids were so hungry that we had complete silence for a while as they enjoyed food!
Ashton had quite a time getting his mouth around that big burger.
The girls didn't want any photo's of them cause we had just gotten out of bed and started cleaning and moving again and no one had their hair or make-up done.
Trying to decide on the kind of ice cream to have. Of course Grandpa was in the middle of this!
Ryanne's girlfriend was so cute. She couldn't believe that the ice cream cone was sooo big. The employee must have thought that these two girls were cute as their cones were bigger than any of the boys. I think they are beautiful, even without showers or make-up!
Chan was amazed at the size of the cone!
We drove home and the boys dozed off and on. They were so tired. They had worked so hard. We are so proud of these kids and the way they worked without ever complaining or fighting.
The Temple opened up again on the 23rd. It feels so good to have it open again. We really miss it when we can't go. We so love the people we serve with and those we serve as we do our shifts each week. Can't think of a better place to be especially on these cold, snowy days.
Winter has returned and we have snow again.
We went to Boise again on the 29th to see our accountant, Val Dille, and turn in our tax information. We met Shayla again for dinner. How we love this daughter and wish we could take all her heart ache and pain away.
We are so thankful for our children. They are hard working, honest, dependable, and caring. They look out for each other and us. They are such a blessing in our lives.
