As I look back on April, I am very thankful for the warmer weather and the rain showers. It was a beautiful spring month here in Idaho. When the wind blew, it didn't have the stinging bite to it that March had. We have enjoyed being outside. We had to squeeze golfing in between the storms and were able to go 5 times, Lon got 2 more in, one with Tracy and one with Al Whitby and Deloy Thueson. Our grass is growing, the weeds are dying, and my flowers are blooming!

We received an invitation to attend the sealing of our friends Virgil and Mona Dodds. The sealing was scheduled for the first, April Fool's Day so we called Virgil to make sure that this was not a joke. Virgil is 89 years young. This is the second marriage for both and we thought that they were already sealed. What a special day for them and we were so thankful that we were able to attend and support them. We served with them on our Wednesday evening shift at the temple. They were our assistant coordinators before our first mission and became the coordinators when we left for El Salvador. Virgil was devastated two months ago when he had to be released from serving in the Temple due to poor health.
They are great examples of faith and dedication.
Our neighbor Raul had a pine tree and a birch tree that he wanted cut down. George decided that these trees would be great for Tracy and Sarah so we gathered at Raul's to help get firewood cut and delivered.

All the branches are gone and George is working on the tree trunk. Chandler, Ashton, and Eisley worked very hard carrying branches and wood all morning.
The rest of the pine tree being cut down. We left most of the tree in logs. We loaded them into the trailer and hauled them to Bishop Stoker's place to be cut and split and loaded again.

We didn't have to unload and stack because the wood is wet and needs to dry out so we just dumped the trailer and will stack it later on this summer. The kids were very happy that we were done and didn't have to stack it but they all worked so hard and didn't even complain. We were so proud of them. It is fun to live close enough to family to be able to help with projects like this. We taped General Conference today and on Sunday we watched the Saturday Sessions in between the Sunday Sessions.
On the 9th, we went to Twin Falls to watch the boys play soccer. It is nice that they are on the same team. Most of their games are on Wednesday evenings so we will only get to see a couple of games this season.

The boys played well. Today was Ashton's 12th birthday. We were able to attend Sacrament Meeting on Sunday with Sarah and the kids, Tracy was at work. Ashton had to recite his favorite Article of Faith and bare his Testimony. He did great. Tracy came from work in full uniform to ordain Ashton to the Priesthood. Steve and Bev came also. We headed to our meetings right afterwards to fulfill our callings there.
Mom, Grandma Reid, is having trouble with her eyes. She has glaucoma so we spent the 14th and the 28th in Twin at Dr. Allen's office. At first he was talking about surgery again but on the 28th he was encouraged about the progress she has made so we are just waiting to see how the next few weeks go. On the 21st she had a checkup with Dr. Lohmann. My Thursdays seem to keep me busy at the doctors offices with Mom and Lon has worked for B&Z every Thursday.
On the 14th, we met the Gibbons at the Jerome/Burley baseball game here in Jerome and watched their grandson play then went to supper at Garabaldis. So fun to be able to spend time with them.
On the 16th, Lon and I and Mom and Connie headed to Grandview, Idaho to attend the funeral of Ann Reid Millet, one of Dad's sisters.

Ann was 87 years old. Uncle Frank passed away while we were on our missions. It was so fun to see cousins that I had not seen for at least 5 years.

Connie, Debbie, Doug, Dick, Nancy, Mom, Lon. Judy and Mike were sick.
We just sat around and talked and laughed. We were the last ones out of the building!
On the 19th, we were serving our shift at the temple when Ron and Jane Bloxham showed up. They were down from Challis for a doctor appointment so we met up with them after our shift and had lunch together. Lon graduated with Ron and they are hunting buddies. We had a nice visit. Afterwards, we went to visit Larry and Blanca and while there got a call that Norma Thompson had passed away and I was to sing at the services.
Norma was 92.
We headed for home to try and locate the music.
We subbed at the temple on the mid-shift on the 22nd and got home just in time to welcome Norm and Bev Kump. They stayed with us Friday and Saturday nights. The funeral for Norma was Saturday. Our Saturday morning started at 3AM. We picked up Ysidro and Maria Gonzales and took them to Boise to catch a plane to Mexico for their son's wedding. We got home about 7 and crawled in bed for a couple of hours. We were at the church by 12 to help set up for the funeral. Norm and Bev have asked us to use the real dishes for the funeral dinner, not paper. We helped set up, attended the services, helped serve and did dishes till 6:00 pm. Real dishes made everything look real nice but it was a lot of extra work for the ward. I sang "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked" with Sara Hope at the piano. It went very good.
We were very tired Sunday and Monday. Lon worked for B&Z on Thursday and Friday. He does a lot of cleaning and usually has 2 or 3 customers to help. He got his first pay check!
We have spent most of this last week of the month trying to get the house ready for more company. Gene and Norma Van Wagener will arrive on Sunday to spend a week golfing. We got cream of chicken soup made, potato salad, blackberry and apple pie, and blackberry jello. Lon wants to have food ready because he will be golfing everyday and will not have time to cook.
It was our turn, with 5 other families, to clean our ward building on the 30th.
We have had a full month of opportunities to serve others. It brings joy and peace to our lives to be able to serve and help family and friends. We are busy and very blessed by our Heavenly Father.
Life is good!
I thought for sure you were building a new cabin with all that wood! Oh well...
