Gene VanWagoner and his lovely bride of 18 months, Norma, came to visit us on the first day of May. They live in St. George. They are both 82 years young and we had a wonderful time with them in our home for the week. Whenever Gene comes to town, usually once a year, it is golf marathon time. He has slowed down and usually only golfs 18 holes a day now. In years past, it was very normal for a 36 hole day. Lon, Kurt, Gene and Junior Robinson golfed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Tracy, Lon, Gene, and Junior golfed on Tuesday and Thursday. The golfers usually came to our place for lunch or dinner after their round.
Norma and I kept busy visiting, walking (she can handle the 4 mile loop) and laughing. She is so much fun to be with. Her granddaughter lives in Hagerman so she went to visit with her one day.
We served in the temple on our normal shifts so we had to fit everything around our schedules.
We even got to go to the temple one evening with Gene and Norma.

I was really worried about having to entertain Norma for a whole week but the time just went by so fast and suddenly they were gone. We look forward to being with them in June in St. George.
Happy Mother's Day
A few of my sisters and I decided that the best thing we could do for Mom for Mother's Day was to spend time with her and go to lunch together. We took her to Appleby's. This is the dessert that we all enjoyed together.

My little sisters are so much fun to be with. I am really boring compared to them. I am so thankful that so many of us live close enough to get together now and then.
I am sure that the other people in the restaurant were glad when these giggly girls left.
What a fun way to start Mother's Day weekend. I was able to Facetime Ginger and Mindi and spent time with Sarah and the kids at a soccer game for Chandler and Ashton on Saturday. We spent a relaxing Sunday after our meetings. Poor Shayla tried to call but our phone decided to act funny so we didn't get any of our calls on Sunday. The refrigerator even acted up and didn't seem to be cooling. On Monday, all was well again. We must have had a ghost in the house.
Tracy and Sarah joined us at the temple on the 14th to do some sealings for the family names that we had done the baptisms for in January. What fun to be in the temple with our kids. After the sealing session we picked up the kids and went to Idaho Joe's for dinner.

The rest of May just went by so fast. I took Mom to the eye doctor again and her eyes are doing much better. We don't have to go back until the end of June. Lon worked for BZ Plumbing every Thursday afternoon. Kurt has hurt his back so Lon has done a double shift at the temple every Tuesday, subbing for Kurt. We serve on the AM shift, come home for a nap and Lon heads back at 3 for the PM shift. We are hoping and praying that Kurt will be able to continue serving in the temple after the 2 week break in June.
Memorial Day actually was on the 30th of May this year. The year that Tracy was born, Memorial Day was on the 30th. It is hard to believe that our little boy turned 40. He had to work the night shift so Sarah and the kids came over so that he could sleep all day. We went to George's garden (out at Dirk and Beckie Clarkson's house) and weeded the garden. Then we had hamburgers and hot dogs. The kids played with their friends that live around the corner and even had smor's.
We had lunch with Flor, Nene, and Maria at Nene's house on the 31st after our morning shift in the Temple. Flor made us arepa's. It was a fun lunch in two languages. The girls would be speaking English and finish their sentence in Spanish and Lon and I did the same.
Lon golfed 14 time this month. He went with Gene, Junior, Kurt, Tracy, Ashton, Shayla, Ryanne, Lloyd and of course me (4 times).
We've decided that either time is moving faster than normal or we are slowing down and not getting as much done as we used to. We now know that we will never get old and be "over the hill" because we don't have enough energy to make it to the top of the hill! But life is good and we are happy and content.
We love serving in the Temple. It is definitely the high light of our weeks. On the 21st, I was privileged to be an attendant for a Spanish lady who came to the Temple for the first time and Lon was able to seal a Spanish couple together and then seal their daughter to them. It is so fun to be able to use our Spanish and associate with these special children of our Heavenly Father.
Enough for now, June is knocking at the door.
