March first, after our morning shift at the temple and a quick nap, found us in Boise to watch Gideon play basketball. He plays on the North Junior High School 7th and 8th grade team. They actually have 4 teams, A,B,C,and C2. The A team gets to play a regular game and the other three teams are guaranteed at least 2 quarters of play.

The other team had a lot of tall boys, it is sad that they put 7th and 8th together, there is a big difference in growth in those two years.

Wednesday the 2nd was only in the high 40's with a stiff west wind but that didn't deter Lon, Kurt, and Junior from hitting the golf course. It was just too cold for me. We served in the temple that evening.
Thursday, Lon cut wood with George all day in Hollister. I spent the day working on finances as it is the first of the month and time to close out last month and get the bills paid.
Friday Lon and I went golfing at '93'. The sun was out and it was up to 50 so not too bad. I have forgotten a lot but for my first time out this year I did OK. We spent the afternoon in the temple as patrons. Saturday we subbed for the Wrights on the PM Shift. It was a good first week of a new month.
Our moving began on Monday the 7th. We went to Buhl to help Larry and Blanca get moved from their 4000 sq. foot home into a 1600 sq. foot home in Twin Falls. The only problem was that neither of them want to get rid of anything. I helped get things boxed up and Lon and Larry loaded the trucks and trailer with boxes. We took one huge load to the new house and put it into the garage. They don't sign papers on the sale of the old house or the purchase of the new one until Thursday but they have to be out so we were able to only put things in the garage till Thursday.

Lon spent Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning and Thursday helping Larry. Thursday evening, their last load was the refrigerator. They really struggled getting it loaded and moved. As Lon was just finishing hooking it up in the new house, Larry arrived to tell him that it had to be returned to the old house as it was on the contract to be left for the new owners. Woops!!! By this time, Lon was totally exhausted and he left to come home. Larry would have to make the change with his son-in-laws on Saturday. Lon and Larry had done all the heavy work all week. The son-in-laws and grandsons would be able to come on Saturday to help finish.
While Lon was in Buhl working with Larry, I spent Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning and Thursday with Karen Miller helping her pack. We have to sort things to be discarded, put into long term storage, or taken to her Mom's house.
On Friday morning, stiff and sore from our 4 days of moving, we headed back to Boise to spend the day with Justin and Shayla.
The four of us went golfing at the Plantation Golf Course. It was a lot warmer than in Jerome, but I am really looking forward to being able to golf without my coat and gloves on. Justin presented me with hand warmers to keep in my pockets and we were off.
It is a beautiful course right in the middle of Boise on State Street. I only golfed 9 holes but rode with them as they did 18. It is fun to be able to join my family on the golf course, not just as an onlooker but as a participant. They are so patient with my golf 'skills'?
There were geese, swans, and ducks all over the course.
The grass is just beginning to green up. But the trees are still bare.
It will be fun to return in the summer when the trees and flowers are alive again.

We so enjoyed our day with Justin and Shayla. This is Gideon's last game. We headed for home right after the game. It has been a long week and Saturday is going to be busy.
Forgot to mention that on Tuesday the 8th we had to meet with President Hope, first counselor in the Stake Presidency and Lon is to receive a new calling. I will tell you about it when he is put in but this has been on our minds all week. He is going to miss his Primary Class.
Saturday morning we first went to a Primary Appreciation Brunch put on by the Primary Presidency to thank us for our service (they don't know about Lon's new calling yet). We drove to Twin to check on Larry and Blanca and they are getting settled slowly. Their kids were there to help. We then went to Karen and Drew's to help load boxes into the horse trailer so they can get a load delivered into their storage in Idaho Falls. Karen won't be back until the 21st so we are done moving for a week.
We were invited to dinner at Ysidro and Maria Gonzales's. We were surprised to find that it was a party with the Buhler's, Don Culbertson (Esther was ill) and the Larson's (the branch president).

Before the evening was over, Lon was offered a part time job with the Buhler's to watch their store when they needed time off for family matters. The Buhler's have bought out the plumbing supplies from Franklin when they closed their store here in Jerome and purchased the old GE Electric building and most of their customers are Spanish. A perfect fit for Lon, plumbing and Spanish and part time. It won't interfere with Temple.
Lon was not put into his new calling on Sunday so he has at least one more week with his boys. He sure does enjoy this primary class.
Monday the 14th we woke up to snow, hail, and WIND!!!!! I am trying not to complain but the only ray of sunshine today was family and friends.
We drove to Burley and had lunch with Walt and Eileen Petersen and Dave and Marilyn Gibbons.

Whenever we are with these special people who we served with in El Salvador, we feel like we are with family. I know that he is not 'President' Petersen anymore, but I just can't call him Walt. He is the most amazing man that I know. His testimony and spirit are so strong that you can feel them when you are around him. We loved serving under his example of pure love.
We left Burley just in time to head to Twin Falls to watch Chandler perform with his drama class.
Chandler played "spud" the side kick of Captain Potato. He has padding on because he is big and strong and fights all of Captain Potato's battles for him, with Captain Potato getting all the credit.
He had some real fight scenes and did a great job.
Tuesday we served in the temple, took a nap, and I went to help Kim Orr with her Webelos again. Her assistant doesn't show up very regularly. When I got home, I found out that we were invited to Mom's for supper. Debbie and Doug are down so we went to visit.

They are enjoying living close so that they can just come down and visit whenever they feel like it. They are living in Star now but with spring they will be heading out with their RV wherever Doug's work sends them. Last year they were in the Denver area for the summer.

Shayla and Ryanne and Gideon came to visit on Friday the 18th. She arrived about 4:30 and the sun was shining and the wind had slowed to about 15mph so Lon and Shayla ran to get a quick 9 holes in before dark. The kids and I played games.
Saturday we headed to Tracy and Sarah's house to help with some yard work. Lon cut down some trees, helped with the sprinkler system, and we raked and cleaned up the yard.
Shayla ran to Kimberly and picked up Aydan and Dillon so that the kids could enjoy their cousins.

And it worked! The adults were able to accomplish a lot without any whining.
On Sunday the 20th, Lon was released as a Primary Teacher and put into the High Priest Group Leadership. Deloy Thueson is the High Priest Group Leader with Lon as the first assistant and Reggie VanTassle the second assistant. Lon has never served in the High Priest Group before so this will be a learning calling. He is sad to be leaving the primary though. He felt like he was making a difference with these young boys and now, what can he do to help these "old" boys? Only time will tell.
We went to our yearly Temple Devotional this evening. It was great. We reflected on our last Temple Devotional which was in Guatemala and Lon had to speak and I directed the Missionary Choir. Boy, how our life has changed.
Lon worked for Buhler's this week before the temple on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon also. All of his customers were Spanish. This will probably be the only days until Fair week. It is really a part time job.
Lon performed his first English live sealing this week. A very special evening for him.
Lon and Tracy worked on the sprinklers at Tracy's house while I spent the week helping Karen box and clean. We got her walk-in closet all boxed, her craft room, the pantry and most of the laundry room. She is getting so tired. I hope she doesn't get sick before we get this done. The movers will be here on the 4th of April to get the big stuff so we are getting closer. Our children can be very happy that we have de-junked when we moved to town and again when we got home from Guatemala. Karen and Drew have not de-junked once in their married lives. They hate to throw anything away. This move is very hard on them. Lon came out again on Saturday and helped get the boxes into the trailer for the trip to Idaho Falls. We have another week off before Karen comes back to pack again. Moving is hard work!!
On Monday, the 28th, Barbara Fuller Chester and I went to lunch.
Barbara and I are childhood friends. She lived just down the road from us and we spent all of our time together in the summers. Barb was raised a Prespiterian but in reality was raised a Mormon because if I was allowed to do or go somewhere, so was she and if I was not allowed, neither was she. She has moved back to Jerome so we are trying to go to lunch once a month just for fun.
Lon went golfing on Monday afternoon with Junior Robinson, but on Tuesday winter returned.
We left for the temple at 5:15 and it was just starting to snow. When we left the temple at noon we were greeted to a blizzard!
We got about 4 inches here in town. It was a wet, heavy snow that only lasted a day and a half. By Wednesday afternoon most of it was gone.
The old saying about March is that it comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. It is true for this year. Today is sunny and will get up to 60 degrees. Spring in Idaho is so unpredictable. We have been busy moving family and friends, only golfed 6 times this month (Lon 6 and Nancy 3). We have had snow, hail, sun, rain, and lots of wind. We subbed in the temple twice and have enjoyed working and playing with our family and friends.
Lon is fishing with George today and I used his kitchen-aid without his permission and made rolls!
Life is wonderful. We love serving our Heavenly Father in His Holy House. We are thankful that the Plan of Happiness is all about families and being together forever. We love our family.
