Well, February came in cold and white.

We are starting to feel like the snow will never leave. But on Friday, the 5th, Lon saw his first rock chucks so we know that spring is on it's way. It doesn't matter what the ground hog did, here in Idaho when the rock chucks some out, spring is close.
I have got to quit complaining and just enjoying each day as it comes. I found this quote from Gordon B. Hinkley that I am going to try to live:
Don't be gloomy. Do not dwell on unkind things. Stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. Even if you are not happy, put a smile on your face. "Accentuate the Positive" Look a little deeper for the good. Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, with great and strong purpose in your heart. LOVE LIFE!
The month of February had 20 days that the temple was open. We ended up serving on 12 of those days, attending a session on 4 other days, and doing some baptisms with Chandler on Friday evening, the 5th. It felt much like being on our missions as we spent at least 4 days a week in the temple, 17 out of 20 is not too bad for two old people who were worried about being bored when the mission ended! There is a lot of sickness going around among the temple workers.
We tried to take a "selfie" as we left the temple with Chandler on the 5th. It is so great to be able to attend the temple with our grandson. Grandpa baptized both Chandler and I and then confirmed us.
We spent Saturday morning canning some of our pinto beans. They are getting old and it takes "days" to cook them until they are soft. But we put them in bottles and pressure cooked them and now they will soften up when we add them to chile. That evening we attending the Eagle Court of Honor for Lance, Kip and Tawnya Thompson's second son.
We have been watching Lance play basketball this winter. He plays on the Kimberly JV team.
The man in the middle, the short one, is Shane Bybee, the husband of Ivon, Blanca's daughter.
Lon got to sit in the Eagle's Nest during the program.
The snow is melting!!! The bitter cold is gone but the wind has picked up and we might as well get used to it as it will blow from now till August.
Red Letter Day!! February 15th Lon golfed for the first time this year!
On the 16th, Mom and I went to the Twin Falls Temple to meet our sweet missionary.
Sister Heidi Mitchell, daughter of Shauna and Roderick Mitchell, and granddaughter of John and Sharon Turley and great-granddaughter of Marian Reid. Heidi is from Florida and got her call to serve in the Twin Falls Idaho Mission. Mom hadn't seen her since Heidi was about 10 years old.
I had never met this niece before so it was a treat for me. As you can see, the weather has gotten much better as Mom and I are not wearing our big winter coats, but we really didn't think that it was warm enough for only a sweater. Heidi is a very sweet girl with a great spirit. She is an asset to the Twin Falls Idaho Mission.

Karen and Drew Miller are coming back every other weekend to work on packing and sorting their stuff. The movers will be here the first of April to move the furniture so we are trying to help them get things sorted and boxed and the boxes loaded into a horse trailer. The movers will only take the furniture so they have to move everything else.
During her sorting, Karen found a puzzle that she thought was too hard and brought it to me. It was only 550 pieces and didn't take too long but it was a fun one.
It probably had the most interesting shapes of any puzzle I have done.
For Christmas, Lon bought me a new screen door for our front door. It has been too cold to try to install it until now. We are thrilled by how it looks and will enjoy it especially in the spring and early summer to let in the fresh air.
This month we have gone to dinner with George and Kim and Eldon, spent every Tuesday afternoon with the Sister Missionaries and Eldon as they try to help him read the Book of Mormon and understand the doctrine therein, taken Mom to get her hair done and to the doctor appointments, making sure that we have time to eat at the Subway afterwards, Lon helped George cut firewood when he is in need of help and to get out of the house, and spent 3 hours with Al and Trace Nickels comparing our missions. It has been a full month.
Another Red Letter Day! Lon and Kurt went golfing at 93 on the 26th. We will see how warm it gets next week and maybe I will go with him.
Today is Farrell's birthday. He doesn't get a real one for another 4 years when leap year comes around again.
Life is good. We enjoy serving in our Twin Falls Temple and in our Jerome Second Ward. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true and brings peace and happiness to our souls. We enjoy being in our home and spending time with family and friends.
There is Sunshine in our souls today!
