October 2025

 Our days seem to move faster and faster each year, but once October comes, then it even goes faster as we begin the holiday season.  We are having a wonderful fall.  The leaves are turning but the weather is very mild.  October 1st found us on the golf course for 9 holes before our temple shift that afternoon/evening.  We needed to be to the temple a little early this day so I could meet Sister Murillo, a new worker that I am to train.  She speaks very little English so I will need to remember my Spanish.  I have forgotten so many words.  When you don't use it, you lose it!!  We got home around 9pm after a wonderful shift.  How we love serving in the temple!

On Thursday morning, we headed to Boise for our appointment with Scottie to have Lon's tooth pulled and the stem of the implant put in.  Everything went really well and hopefully I can get Lon to take it easy for a couple of days to heal.  He hates to miss out on these beautiful fall days.  Instead of golfing or fishing on Friday, Lon made pie and watched football.  He delivered one of the pies to Phil Warren, who just had hip surgery, and we enjoyed the other. I subbed on the PM shift this evening.  

General Conference weekend!  We so look forward to this weekend.  It was very different this year as our beloved Prophet and President of the Church, Russell M. Nelsen, died and the First Presidency of the church has been dissolved.  President Oaks, President of the Quorum of the 12 presided. This hasn't happened since 1951.  The message of this conference seemed to be Love:  the love of our Savior, love yourself, never give up, love your neighbor, serve, love everyone and think positive.  Great conference!

Golfed again on Monday morning, a little cool though.  We may have to start golfing a little later!  We went to Tim and Joy Matthews' and picked some apples.  They have so many and they are big and beautiful. We got both red and yellow ones.  Then we picked up Kim Orr and Sandy Hepworth and went out and helped them pick apples for themselves.  We made 14 quarts of apple pie filling and 4 pints of apple sauce.  

Tuesday, we didn't golf until 11, much warmer!  On Wednesday we had to golf at 9 because of our temple shift that afternoon/evening.  We leave the house by 2:20. It was a bit cold for me!  Lon and LaRon were planning on fishing on Thursday the 9th but the wind was very strong, so they decided not to go.  We went to Twin instead and did some Christmas shopping and fishing shopping and grocery shopping.  We ran into Kurt and Linda at Costco, so Lon and Kurt decided to go golfing at 4:30.

Friday the 10th Road Trip with Kim and George.

We headed out at 7:30 for Atlanta to visit with Mike and Judy and see their cabin.  Anderson Dam is getting very low.

We were blessed that the road had been grated just this week, so it was a good road, just kind of narrow, windy and steep in places.

This way into Atlanta is the shortest but the worst roads.  In the winter, they are not maintained.  I was thankful when we reached Atlanta.

We stopped in Idaho City for supper.  We got home just as the thunder and lightning and rain came down with a vengeance.  It was a great day, but we definitely are tired.

We subbed at the Temple on Saturday Mid and got done just in time to run to the birthday party for Jean Harris, 100 years.  She is President Reed Harris's mother.  Then on Sunday we ran to Burley after church and before Messiah practice to wish Dennis Dudley a Happy 90th Birthday.

These two started serving in the temple in Boise, same as us.  Elizabeth is no longer able to serve due to health issues, but Dennis is like the energizer bunny.  He serves and substitutes at least 4 days a week.  He runs up and down the stairs and just never seems to tire.  How we love these two.  We will miss our association with them when the Burley temple opens.

We golfed on Monday and Tuesday, it rained on Wednesday and Thursday! and suddenly it was Friday again!  Lon and LaRon went fishing then we helped George and Kim set up their craft show booth in Wendall.

He is trying his first craft show, but this one hasn't had much advertising and it's the first year, so it didn't go as well as George had hoped.  

Saturday morning, the 18th we headed to Utah to Justin and Mindi's house.  We got there in time to watch BSU beat UNLV and then BYU beat Utah.

After Church on Sunday, Nathan and Loren, Jacob and Hannah, and Hadley and Weston came for supper.  We love spending time with our grandchildren, but these 2 great grandchildren are a joy to be around.  

I brought the kids new wooden puzzles and they really enjoyed playing with them.

On Monday morning, Lon and Farrell went golfing and I visited with AnnaVee, Kayanna and her family.  We got back to Mindi's in time to head to the Hale Theatre for our Christmas present.  This year we are going to see "Sister Act".

We went to a Soup and Salad restaurant to celebrate my birthday after the show.

After breakfast on Tuesday morning, we drove home.  It was such a beautiful day that we went golfing that afternoon.  We know that winter is coming so we are enjoying every good day that we have.

We golfed again on Wednesday morning then went to the temple for our Wednesday PM shift.  Great evening.

We subbed on the Thursday AM shift on the 23rd.  We didn't have to be there till 7am so it wasn't too bad.  

LaRon and Lon went fishing at Magic on Friday morning.  They caught and released 46 trout.  They had a great day.

We had our monthly date with Tracy and Sarah on Saturday the 25th and attended a session at the temple then went to dinner at McCallister's. 

I went down again on Monday morning and spent all day Monday and Tuesday in bed.  I think I am missing all those prayers on behalf of the Temple Presidency now that we are released😛 Not how I had hoped to spend my 74th birthday.

We ended the month of October with serving on the Wednesday PM shift, the Thursday AM shift and the Friday PM shift.  The Friday PM shift had a luncheon before their shift, and we enjoyed visiting with so many amazing people that we will miss dearly as the Burley Temple gets ready to open.  We were thrilled to serve in the Temple on Halloween and not have to deal with trick-or-treating!! October is a busy month for birthdays in this family:  Shayla, my sister Linda, Hadley, me, Mindi and Weston.  Goodbye October 2025
