April 2025

 The first week of April was easy to remember.  We closed the temple 4 straight days because the Allen's were out of town.  The Harris's opened all 4 days.  Lon stated it well in his journal, "got up, got ready for the temple, served, came home late and slept then started all over again.

General Conference was the 5th and 6th.  We look forward to this weekend every 6 months and just love being taught at the feet of our Apostles and Prophets.  It was a very relaxing, wonderful weekend.  

Monday morning Connie came over to help me get my quarterly and property taxes arranged so we can pay online.  Paying by checks through the mail just isn't safe so hopefully what we set up will work when it's time.  Thankful for little sisters who are willing to look out for us old ones😅.  After Lon got done golfing with Tracy, Kevin (Tracy's boss) and Randy Welch, we went for a drive with Kim and George.  We went to the "West Point" restaurant to eat.  It's out in the country by the eagle trees in Wendell County.  The food was a bit greasy but good. Had a thunderstorm on our way home and a double rainbow.

                                                                    Had a nice visit.  

 I went to lunch with Shelly Hope Tuesday morning.  She was in town to visit with her children.  We had a nice visit.  Lon went rock chuck hunting with George.  He killed 83.  The rock chucks are infesting farmers' fields and eating their crops, so they love for George to come and thin them out.  George is almost to 1,000 this spring.  

Lon and Laron headed to CJ Strike on Wednesday to fish.  They had a wonderful day and caught a nice mess of crappie.  

The crappie was about 14 inches long, the biggest one he has ever caught.  They brought home 10 and gave them to Raul and Juanna.  It was a good day for Lon and LaRon.

Sunday the 13th, we had our Shift Coordinators Training at the temple.  It started at 6 and we didn't get home till 10.  We had all 30 of our Shift Coordinators (15 couples) come.  These are the people who have the hardest jobs at the temple.  They schedule and teach their workers so that the shift runs smoothly and our patrons' needs are met.  We had 5 new couples in attendance, and they were just a little overwhelmed, but they will learn and do great.  

The 15th we began our long week at the temple, 3 mornings and 2 evenings.  It was a great week with a special day on Wednesday.  The Hammerquest family came to be sealed.  They had lived in our ward for a couple of years and the father had not been a member but came faithfully.  Lon was able to perform the sealing of the parents, and 3 children were sealed to their parents.  The children and wife had waited patiently for years to have this happen.  We were so thrilled for them.  The youngest son had been a teacher in the Elder's Quorum in the ward. 

Easter Sunday, we went to our Sacrament Meeting and then went to Tracy and Sarah's home for dinner with the family.  With Ashton heading to Florida for the summer to work and Chandler headed to fight fires for the summer, this will probably be the last time for a couple of months that we see these grandchildren.  We enjoyed a delicious dinner and great company. 

Lon had the rock garden finished (I think).  George made blue birds to put on the finishing touch.

The 25th began our week off and I went to lunch with Barbara.  Lon and Laron headed to CJ Strike to do some fishing.  About 2:30 the weather changed, and the winds really got to moving.  It was just a little scary for them to get off the water safely.

Thankful that they made it home safe and sound.  Spring in Idaho can be very windy.  They brought home 24 crappie.

Sunday the 27th

Today was our last Temple President's Devotional.  We held it at the chapel next to the temple.  Lon conducted, I sang with a double quartet, and we both had to share our testimonies.  It was a wonderful evening.  How we love these ordinance workers.  It was fun to greet them and share this time with them.  We only have 4 more months left in our presidency.  We had all of the former temple presidents and their wives attend and introduced them, along with the Burley Temple Presidency and our new presidency that will take over on the first of September.

These Temple Matrons are my heroes and mentors.  I have learned so much from each of them. 

On Monday morning, the 28th, Ron Bloxham came to town.  Lon, Ron, Tracy and I went golfing at 93, then Lon, LaRon and Ron headed to Magic to fish for the afternoon.  They were just putting the boat in the water when LaRon realized that he didn't have the remote for the trolling motor.  They loaded back up and headed home, stopping for ice cream in Shoshone.  They headed to CJ Strike at 5:30am on Tuesday.  Had a great day and brought home 27 crappie and one trout.  Wednesday was the last day of their fishing marathon, and they headed to Magic again, this time with the remote. They were able to fish till about 3 when the wind came up.  Ron headed for home with all the fish and Lon and LaRon headed for home.  They had a great time. 

We are saddened with the news that our dear friend Norma Van Wagoner had passed away.  She and Gene live in St. George, Utah.  She was 92.  We will miss visiting with her when we go to St. George to golf. 

She and Gene were married for 8 years.

Eisley had her Junior Prom this month.

Such a beautiful young lady.  She will be a Senior next year.

Last month Mindi went temple hopping with us.  We had a bunch of sealings that we didn't get done so this bunch went to the Rexburg temple and got them done.

April has come and gone.  We seem to keep very busy with our temple assignment, fishing, golfing and rock chuck hunting.  We love when we have time to spend with family.  We are blessed with good health and the love of a great family.  Who could ask for anything more!
