Sunday, October 1st, 2023. We enjoyed conference. We wait for it to come every 6 months, and then before you know it, it is over. Mick and Linda came again and spent Sunday night with us then left Monday to have lunch with Mom and head for home. This week is our long one, 3 early mornings and 2 nights. The weather is rainy and windy, a good week to be indoors!
Lon spent most of the week doing the finishing touches on the camper. I got the B&B ready for our next guests. Dick and Kyla came in on Thursday evening and headed to Utah on Friday afternoon to visit with Clay and his family. Judy is out of town so between Connie, Dick and I, we covered being with Mom each day. So thankful to have Dick and Kyla here to help. They came back again on the 11th, 12th, and left on the 13th for home.

The 12th of October will always be a very special day from now on. We became great grandparents! Hannah and Jacob now have a baby girl.

On the 13th, Dick and Kyla left around 5am. We went to Clear Lakes Golf Course to golf with Shayla and Justin around 12:30. It was a very sunny day, but with a little wind so sweatshirts felt good.

I'm glad we got to play this course but will never do it again. It is way too difficult for this girl.
They treated us to the golf, so we treated them to supper at the Snake River Grill in Hagerman. They were headed to a football game in Hagerman, so the drive wasn't out of the way. The food was great and the whole day was amazing. We love spending time with our family.
On Saturday the 14th, we substituted for the Taylors and closed. It was a busy afternoon, but a slow night.
Finally, time for the first overnighter with the camper!
Lon and LaRon spent Sunday afternoon, the 15th, getting the food and supplies into the camper. They left on Monday morning for Owyhee Reservoir to fish for crappie. Lon pulled the camper and LaRon pulled the boat. They left about 8am and were on the water around 2:30. They caught about 24 fish, and by the time they got them filleted and supper over, they got to bed around 11pm.
Breakfast turned out to be different than expected. The boys slept well in their camper and planned on eggs and toast, but LaRon brought dried potatoes instead of eggs and mixed the dried milk way too strong so bread and jam with a protein drink was the next best thing. They were on the water a little after 9 and had another great day. They stopped a little earlier so that they could get the fish filleted, vacuum packed and in the freezer earlier than Monday.
On Wednesday, Harvey Neal came down from Weiser to fish with them.
Harvey took most of the fish home with him. They caught about 87 crappie and one trout.

Lon did very well getting some pictures of the trip, but no photos of the camper or campground. Oh well, maybe next year. They arrived home about 8pm.
Thursday was spent getting the camper cleaned, winterized, and covered for the winter. They will be anxious for spring to try it again.
We ended the month of October with our big week, just as we began the month, 3 early days and 2 late ones. We had a very slow Saturday, so Lon and I did a sealing session to celebrate my birthday. Our great granddaughter is growing.

We spent Halloween on the pm shift at the temple. What a perfect way to end a month. The year of 2023 is drawing to an end very quickly.
