Lon taught his first lesson on the 1st of August. We are studying the Doctrine and Covenants this year. The lesson went very well.
We took the Zysett's to Boise on the 2nd, Monday. They flew to California to visit grandchildren and great grandchildren. We then drove to Weiser, Idaho to visit with Keith and Phyllis Thompson, Lon's aunt and uncle. They are 95 and 93 years old. We had never been to Weiser and thought that it would only take us an hour from the airport to get there. With road construction and an accident, it took over 2 hours to get there so we were only able to visit for a half hour before we had to head back to Boise to meet Gideon for dinner. We had a great visit but didn't get any pictures😞 Gideon begins his Navy career this evening.
Gideon chose a "sushi" restaurant which also had other sandwiches for his farewell dinner.
We also said goodbye to Ryanne who is heading to Costa Rica to attend school there for 4 months. She is trying to learn medical terms in Spanish and improve her Spanish
And these 2 are off on new adventures. They are in our thoughts and prayers daily. They have grown into such amazing young adults.
The Olympics are on so we stay up way too late each night to watch.
Craig and Robbie came in on the 6th with their camper. They parked in the driveway and hooked up to water and electricity. We had a great visit that evening. The next day, Saturday the 7th, Farrell and AnnaVee drove up for the weekend. AnnaVee was in so much pain when they arrived that we put her right to bed for a few hours. The brothers all went golfing. That evening, Kurt and Linda came in and the 8 of us had a great evening reminiscing about the past. I learned quit a few new facts about their childhoods. We all gathered again on Sunday evening. We have been up early and to bed very late all week and by Monday morning my body said "enough". The brothers all went golfing and I stayed in bed with a minears attack! When Lon got home from golfing, he fed everyone breakfast and got them all on their way home while I stayed in bed. With the help of a priesthood blessing, Tuesday morning we headed to South Jordan.
We were able to join Isaac at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple as he received his endowment. He is headed to the Japan Tokyo Mission in a month. He is so excited and working hard on the language already. We just pray that he will be able to get to Japan because of the pandemic. So proud of this young man and his decision to serve his Father in Heaven.
Wednesday morning the 11th, we went golfing with Mindi then had breakfast and headed home. We had an interview with the Temple President at 6 pm. We have been called to serve in the Twin Falls Temple once again. We are so excited. Lon will not be a sealer at this time as the temple has its compliment of sealers right now. President McCurdy set us apart as ordinance workers and we will begin next week. We will serve on the Tuesday AM Shift with prayer meeting starting at 6am.
We talked to the missionaries and our one Englishconnect student on Thursday about changing our classes to Tuesdays. That way we will dedicate Tuesday's to the Lord's service and have the rest of the week for other activities like fulfilling our other callings.
The Hughes, Jon and Karen, came to visit Thursday afternoon. They served with us in Chile. Jon was in charge of the finances and Karen did all the visa's.
They went to our English class with us. We all headed golfing Friday morning early as it is going to be another very hot day. Karen didn't want to golf but rode with Jon in the golf cart. 
Lon and I walked our 9 as usual. Jon hadn't golfed for quite a while but really did good. We had a blast. We came home and Lon made whole wheat waffles, scrambled eggs and bacon.

Only the one falls coming over. We are in a drought and water is running very low.
We also went to the Twin Falls Falls. We went out to eat at "Idaho Joe's ". Eating out on Friday nights was our tradition while on the mission. Jon commented that in Chile we talked a lot about all the dairies in Jerome and he hadn't seen one since he had arrived. Sooo, we took a drive through the country and showed him dairy after dairy. They were impressed at the size of the dairies. They were also impressed to learn where their fertilizer came from as we showed them the piles of manure and explained how it was cured and ground and bagged to be sold in stores. We showed them where Lon was born and raised and where I was born and raised. That evening we played the card game of "Golf" and a game of dominos. What a wonderful day with good friends, lots of memories, and good food.
Saturday morning, after a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, the Hughes headed for Salt Lake City. And we took a nap! It's been a busy week!
4:30am on August the 17th, we are up and ready to begin our service as ordinance workers in the Twin Falls Idaho Temple. We have served on this shift before so we know a bunch of the workers. It feels just like coming home! We are trying to re-learn everything in English as we haven't used English in the temple for about 3 years now, 1& 1/2 years on mission and 1& 1/2 years of the temple being closed due to the pandemic. It was a great morning.
We had appointments to take the Zysett's to the temple at 1 so we drove home, picked them up and went back to the temple. We also took Sister Vivian Petersen with us today. We ate at Juanitzio's and got home in time to head for our Englishconnect class. No one showed up for the 4:00 class again, it's been a couple of months since anyone has come for this one. Isidro was our only student at 7. He is doing so great. He is so excited to learn and fun to teach.
We spent the morning packing the truck, still driving Tony's 1994 pickup as ours is still in Tony's shop (17 months now). We are heading to Alturas Lake to spend a few days at Camp Smokey with the Wallace's who are the caretakers again this summer. At Phantam Hill the truck died on us. After a few minutes it restarted so we decided to go on.

We stayed in Cabin 2. We put the top mattress pads on the bottom bunks and each slept in a bunk alone. We also brought a port-a-pottie for the night so it was a very pleasant stay. The nights and mornings were sweatshirt weather but the days were mostly warm and nice.
Thursday was windy and cold so we took a drive to the other church camp to see it and then to the Salmon fish hatchery .
We went to the lake on Thursday evening for a picnic of BBQ hotdogs, no fires at Camp Smokey but at the lake we could. Dan and Lon caught a bunch of fish and had a blast. We played their version of "golf" and went to bed.

George and Kim drove up on Friday morning to spend the day. It was the warmest and calmest day. Proof that George caught the first fish of the day!

Lon enjoyed his canoe. He had a new motor on it so he was trying to get familiar with it
The afternoon was warm until a cloud came over and we women got cold and went back to camp while the men continued to fish for several hours.
Lon decided it was not working to try and fish from the boat cause it would keep moving with the current and not stay put. He finally pulled to the doc and tied up and fished from there.
George and Kim stayed for supper and then headed for home. It was a very nice day spent with very dear friends.
Saturday morning we loaded and headed for home. We got just past Easley's Hot Springs when again the truck died. This time there was no restarting it! We had not cell service here. Luckily the Wallace's were behind us so they stopped and we loaded everything that we could in their car and we headed for home. When we finally got cell service just past Ketchum we called George to get the number of a tow truck. George said that he would meet us in Shoshone with his trailer to haul the truck pack. Lon, Dan, and George had lunch in Shoshone and then headed up for the truck. Jolene and I went home and unpacked. The three of them had quite a time. George's wench wouldn't work so they had to hand crank the truck onto the trailer. It took a lot of time. They stopped at our house and unloaded the canoe and then took the truck to Twin and unloaded it at Tony's shop. They got home at 9:30. A very long day for us all.
On the 22nd due to the upswing of covid 19 cases, our church has been reduced to 1 1/2 hours so that we are out of the building before the next ward comes in. That means that our second hour lessons will only be about 20 minutes. I kind of liked only having to teach/lead the discussion for 20 minutes!
A nap really felt good today!
Monday morning and we got the call that the corn is ready. We didn't have time to let Tracy and Mindi know so this year we didn't get to enjoy their company and help as we got the corn in the freezer for them and us. We did about 132 ears.
Our Englishconnect class was amazing on Tuesday evening. We had Isidro, who is on lesson 10, and 9 new students on lesson 1. I kept all 4 young missionaries with me and Lon taught Isidro. We have a couple of the new ones that I think will continue, next week will tell!
On the 25th we started working on another home for Kip. This one we only have to repair a couple of holes in the floors then vinyl the kitchen and bathroom and put carpet in one bedroom and the living room. The new renters are going to clean. In the middle of this job, Lon had to go to another home (#10) to fix a water leak for Kip. It was a busy 4 days trying to get everything done before starting the beet harvest on the 31st.
We took the morning of the 28th off from working and drove to Magic Mountain to watch Eisley's mountain bike race. This was our first race to watch and we were so amazed at what we witnessed.
Tracy is one of the coaches for the Twin Falls High School team and a Middle School club.
Sarah helps with the Middle School club. There were over 350 participants, races in age groups and boys and girls in each age group. This is one of the small races this year. There can be over 700 participants at the larger events. Most of the races are held at ski resorts around the state.
And Eisley's group is off. There are 2 groups of girls her age, she is in the A group.
She looks strong on this first climb out of the gate. It is about a half hour to 45 minutes before they start coming into the finish line.

Some of the kids arrived at the finish line with dirt all over them, you knew that they had taken a fall along the way. Eisley finished well and came in exhausted! Wow! What an accomplishment! So glad we were able to experience this with the kids. What a great sport to offer for those who don't fit into the football/basketball group. We headed home right after Eisley's race to finish the home for Kip.
We had the frontroom to kick in and would be done but the renters arrived an hour before we were finished😟 We had told Kip that we would have it ready to move into by Saturday night, they just arrived a little early for us. They waited patiently while we got done but that meant we couldn't make it home to clean up and get to our Saturday night session of Stake Conference. I ran and delivered the Zysett's as we had told them that we would take them and then we picked them up after. With the Pandemic, the conference sessions were offered on Zoom so we were able to watch the session later.
Sunday morning I was privileged to lead the singing for Stake Conference. It was a great session. We spent the rest of the day watching the session we missed and working on our lessons.
On Monday the 30th we were able to get #10 finished for Kip so Lon is ready for the early beets.
Lon had a short day on the 31st driving in the beet harvest. He got home in time to get to our english class at 4, but no one showed up. We went and picked a bucket of apples at the Bingham's and got to our 7 o'clock english class. Lon and the Sister Missionaries taught Isidro and I had the two Elders help me with the 5 students in the beginner class.
It has been a busy month. We have been able to visit with Mom outside all month, 3 at a time. She is not getting around well at all. Her legs are very swollen now but she enjoys hugs as we sneak them in. As the days get colder, that may not happen but for this month it has been nice. The days have been so hot that standing at her window would have been unbearable. The Thompson B&B has been busy this month and I have the room ready for my sister Sharon to arrive tomorrow. Lon fished a couple of days this month and we got our morning walk in on the golf course at least 4 times a week. We love serving again in the Twin Falls Temple on Tuesday mornings and love our "date" nite by attending the Spanish Session at the Temple every Wednesday evening. We have truly been blessed this month. Life is good.
