April 2021

 April 1st started out in Baker City, Oregon.  We are headed to the Owyhee River for a fly fishing lesson with Randy and Tally.  We got a text from Sarah this morning.  Tracy is in the Emergency Room.  He got up to go to work and passed out in the shower.  He has not been feeling well all week.  He had such a bad back ache, they were afraid his kidneys were shutting down.  After a bunch of tests he was diagnosed with Covid-19.  He was sent home and the family is in quarantine.

We left Baker City and drove about an hour and a half towards home.  We drove to the Owyhee River just outside of Ontario, Oregon.

We got home about 8:30pm.

Friday afternoon while I visited Mom, Lon and Chandler went to pick up Tracy's lawnmower and weed eater from the repair shop.  Lon gave Tracy a blessing.  He is not feeling too great!

Sunday the 4th we enjoyed listening to part of General Conference when Shayla and Justin dropped in to visit on their way home.  So good to see them.  Then we tried to finish Conference but the Wallace's came by, Ginger called and Connie called and Carl LeSueur.  We were informed about the new temples announced at Conference but we hadn't finished watching it yet😝 20 new temples were announced with one in Burley, Idaho and one in Elko, Nevada, and one in Cali, Colombia!  

Tracy ended up in ICU on Monday afternoon.  Sarah called really worried cause they couldn't get his fever to stay down.  The doctors suspect that he now has pneumonia with some breathing pains.  They started an antibody infusion and put him on antibiotics and were sending him home again when he passed out so he will be staying in the hospital overnight!

Tracy spent all week in the hospital, coming home on Friday the 9th.  Keeping his fever down has been the biggest problem.  He also had to use some oxygen for a couple of days.  He is very tired but very happy to be home with his family to recoup.  We are so thankful that he is recovering and that no one else in the family has come down with it.

On the 10th, we headed to South Jordan to Mindi and Justin's home.  Hannah is receiving her endowment today in the Okra Mountain Temple.

It was so amazing to be in the temple again.  It has been a year since we were last in the Santiago Chile Temple.  We have missed it sooo much.

What a special evening.  We all ended up at Mindi and Justin's place for snacks and dessert.

We knew that we were missing going to the temple, but this night really brought home just how much we have missed being in the House of our Lord.  We spent the night with Mindi and watched virtual Sacrament meeting with her ward, then Nathan and Isaac blessed and passed the sacrament to us.  They can only go to church every 3rd Sunday.  We got home around 2:30.

We didn't have anyone show up for our English Connect class on Tuesday the 13th so we decided that we needed to have both classes on the same day so we didn't waste a whole day if no one came.  We will now have a 4pm class and then a 7pm class on Thursdays.  If no one comes at 4 we can just leave everything set up for the 7pm class.   

On the 14th, Ginger and Mindi came to town.  They stayed with us and we enjoyed visiting.  On Thursday morning, it was raining so we had a good breakfast and they got ready to go to lunch with their Aunt Judy.  Ryanne came to town and we took her to Garibaldes for lunch and to visit with her.  She headed to Idaho Falls to visit her other grandparents there. 

It is siblings weekend for our 4 kids.  They enjoyed spending time with Aunt Judy for lunch, then the girls went to visit with Grandma Reid.  Tracy didn't think it wise for him since he is just getting over Covid-19.

They could go in, two at a time and visit for a half hour then Judy and Ginger went in for the next half hour.  

We met up at the Jerome Golf Course and the 6 of us went golfing.

It was cold and windy so we took carts.  When these 4 were small, I never would have envisioned the 6 of us together on a golf course!

Lon and I had to leave after hole #8 to teach our English Connect class.  The kids had rented the old Spanbouer Barn Farmhouse which is now a bed and breakfast and they spent Thursday and Friday nights together.  They played golf in Buhl on Friday.  Saturday morning they came to our house and we fed them waffles with eggs and bacon.  It was so special to see our 4 enjoying each other.  What a blessing to have a family that loves each other and loves to be together.  

This month has been very, very windy. One day from the east and the next from the west.  We have golfed together about 10 times but it is getting to be a warmer wind so we hope to finish the month out strong.

Kip has another home for us to remodel so we started in the middle of the month to order in the new windows and started getting things ready to begin.  This one is much worse than the one we did earlier.  Infact, we told Kip to just junk the trailer but he decided to keep it so we have a lot of work to do to make it livable.

We are now having all of our meetings in person.  Our second hour classes only last about 25 minutes because they want us out of the building before the next ward enters.  That means that I had to teach my Relief Society meeting in person on the 25th.  I was so nervous.  But it went well.  

On the 27th, we went to support Eisley in her school play.  She was the Fairy Modmother in  "Pinocchio in Equal Opportunity Land".  

She did an amazing job.  The only problem was that the actors used no mics and they talked so fast that we missed most of the speaking parts, but the acting was well done.

We headed to Twin to watch Eisley at her conference championships in track on the 29th.  

It was a warm sunshiny day for southern Idaho.  We did get a little sunburnt.

This was her third day of ever trying to do this.

She came in first!  She was so excited.  She also did the 100 yard dash, winning her heat, and the long jump.  Maybe she is going to be our track star?

Another month has just sped by for us.  It has been a good month.  We are enjoying being able to have all of our meetings in person.  Our second hour meetings are only a half hour but at least we are able to be with our ward family.  Still no temples😢 but hopefully soon.
