We spent Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3rd and 4th, visiting with family and friends to say goodbye. We had breakfast with Kurt and Linda, spent time with Larry and Blanca, Keith and Phyllis, and had supper with Tracy and his family. On Sunday we were replaced in all of our callings and we got the materials to the new Choir director, primary pianist, and scout chairman. We worked on getting the last of the suitcases packed and loaded into the car. We visited with Cecilia Worthington and went out to say good bye to Mom and Connie and Dennis. We are pretty much out of food at the house so George and Kim had us over for taco stew one last time. We are going to miss them so much.
Monday morning we picked up Chandler at 5:30 and drove to the airport. He helped us get the bags into the airport, said good bye and then drove the car back to his house. Our flight left at 6:30 and we arrived in Salt Lake City at 7:00am. After getting our bags, we called the shuttle company to come pick us up and take us to Prove. The shuttle didn't arrive till about 8:15. It took about an hour to get to the MTC.

We are on the 3rd floor. The mailroom and the MTC store are on the 1st floor.
Our training began at 1:00 and we were divided into districts. Lon was made the district leader of our group.

We spent our mornings learning about how to teach the gospel with our teacher Brother Coca from 8am to 11:30am.
He was a fairly new teacher
And our afternoons with Brother Lau from 1pm - 4:30pm
He was a very experienced teacher and we really enjoyed him
We were assigned a couple to get to know and then we team taught each other. We had to prepare a lesson for them and they had to prepare a lesson for us. We did this twice to practice the skills that we were taught in our classes.

We really enjoyed getting to know this couple. This is their first mission. They hope to serve a bunch of 6 month missions.
We sang in the 830 voice choir on Tuesday evening for the devotional. We sang an arrangement of "Precious Savior, Dear Redeemer". It was an amazing arrangement and such a powerful choir. The speaker for the evening ended up being Elder Adrian Ochoa and his wife Nancy. He was in the Area Presidency in Guatemala City while we were there. They were in our ward. We were interviewed by him for our Temple Evaluation in Guatemala City. What a small world. It was so good to see them, just wish that we could have visited with them.
The rough part of our training here has been the electronic device training about the Gospel Library. The first session, I really failed to grasp. Lon didn't do too bad. The second one I seemed to do OK with but the third time when we were to use it to prepare our lesson we both bombed out! I definitely need my tangible scriptures in my hand! Our poor teachers really had their hands full trying to get these 104 old people to understand technology. Of course there were some who understood right off the bat but there were many just like us who were in a fog during these classes. I'm glad they are over but maybe we will try to use some of it slowly on our mission.
We actually were able to visit with Preston Couch. We didn't think we would ever find him in the sea of 2000 young missionaries but we saw him twice! He looks so happy. It is amazing how fast 2000 people can be fed here.
It is Thursday, the 8th. We are done with our training here. We will leave the MTC at 10:00 am Friday the 9th and go to the airport. We fly out at 1:55 arriving in Dallas, Tx at 5:28pm. It is a 2 1/2 hour flight. We will leave Dallas at 8:25pm and arrive in Santiago, Chile at 8:42am on the 10th. It is a 9 1/2 hour flight over night.
We are not excited for the long flight, but are excited and ready to get to Santiago and begin this new adventure in our lives. We testify that we are going and doing what our Heavenly Father wants and needs us to do at this time. We are in his hands. We thank you for your prayers in our behalf and assure you that you are all in our prayers. We send our love to all. May God bless you with all you stand in need of. The new training center for the young missionaries is amazing. Sure wish all could view the murals that are on the walls of each floor. They are life size and there is two on each floor of the 6 floor building. This MTC is an amazing place to learn of our Savior and to feel his spirit everywhere.

We had to take the walk to this building twice to enjoy the peace and beauty of this murals and the spirit of the building it's self. It has been a wonderful 4 days.
