September's weather has been beautiful. The fall colors are starting to show and we enjoyed golfing together, watching college football, and serving in the temple, subbing 7 times which means that we only had Thursdays off this month. Lon quit working for Buhler's so he has had more time to fish with George. We are trying to get the mission checklist accomplished. Blain and Sarah Hope have decided to move into our house as they have sold theirs and can't find anywhere to rent or buy right now. We will empty our bedroom of all our clothes and bed and put away anything special like our nick-naks and they will use our dishes and furniture as theirs is all in storage. It will be a good fit for us all. We only hope that they will stay at least through both of the winters that we will be gone. We have started to put things in the storage shed to get the house ready for them.
Lon drove truck for four days, the 4th through the 7th, with the early beet harvest. He will start again on the 8th of October for the rest of the harvest. This will give us a nice bonus to our checking account to start our mission.
Lon got a new truck to drive this year. It is automatic with touch buttons for dumping. He really enjoyed driving this.

On the 14th we had a Ward Fish Fry and Lon and George furnished all the fish for the event. It was well attended and we got a lot of fish out of the freezer. Now we have room for more as the fishing continues to be great at Mormon.
On Sunday the 16th, we attended our meetings then drove to Twin to attend church with Tracy and his family. Chandler had to give a talk in Sacrament meeting. He did a great job. This young man is growing up into such a wonderful person. He was ordained a priest in the Aaronic Priesthood by his father during Priesthood meeting. So thankful that we were able to attend this before our mission. We got home just in time for Lon to go to his Scout Committee Meeting at 4. Then Gene and Norma VanWagoner arrived to spend the week with us. It has been a very busy Sunday.
Monday the 17th was the golf tournament for the Temple Workers. Lon, Gene, Kurt, and Junior golfed together. They came in 2nd and had a good time.
With Gene here, I didn't play golf all week but the three, Gene, Junior and Lon, played every day and Norma and I visited and prepared meals to feed our golfers each day.
We got our temple recommends renewed so that they would last during our whole mission. We also got new driver's licenses and have the credit card ready for the mission. It took some effort to get the church insurance set up, computers yuk! Our medicare will not work while we are in a foreign country so we have to have the church insurance. A few more things checked off the list!
On the 19th, Ken, Bonnie and Stacy were on their way to the airport to fly to Boise when Ken passed out. They thought it was a small stroke at the time and rushed him to the hospital. It ended up being high blood pressure and anxiety and spent the night in the hospital. We were all so disappointed that they wouldn't be able to come down. Ken had told us that his traveling days were over, guess we should have listened.
The rest of the family met at the Twin Falls Temple to do a sealing session with family names on the 20th. Lon was the sealer and we had the following in attendance: Larry (Blanca was home with pneumonia) Farrell (AnnaVee was not able to attend because of her RA), Kurt (Linda was with AnnaVee), Lynn and Ken, Craig and Robbie, myself, Junior Robinson and Gene and Norma VanWagoner. We had six of the seven siblings in attendance. We did the sealings for the people on 79 family cards in an hour and a half. The spirit was so strong. It was an amazing experience to be there with our family and have Lon be the sealer. He did the ordinance in Spanish when Larry and I were at the altar. Lon and I both shed a few tears as we thought about not being able to do this for the next year and a half as we will not be serving a temple mission this time. We both love the temple so much. We will miss this but will go forward and serve where the Lord has called us with faith and confidence that He will lead us by the hand.
After our temple session, we headed back to Kurt and Linda's to have dinner and visit. On the way, our Ford Explorer broke down. It just stopped! We called Craig to come and get us and tow the car home. Kurt sent Tawnya to pick up Robbie, Larry and me and take us to Kurt's while Lon and Craig delivered the car to our house. I told Craig that it was time to bury the car, it was finally dead after giving 285,000 miles. Craig reminded me that I didn't give up on Lon when he died but did all I could to bring him back to life when he had his heart attack. I told him that Lon only had 175,000 miles on his body so he was worth fixing. Lon and Craig were not convinced so the car was towed to Con Paulos to get a new fuel pump, filter, and strainer.
We enjoyed eating and visiting with family all afternoon and came home about 6:00. Gene and Norma slept in our spare room, Farrell and AnnaVee in our bed, Craig and Robbie in their camper and Lon and I in our camper. This has been a day that we will remember for the rest of our lives. We are so sorry that Ken and Bonnie couldn't be with us, but it was because they were coming that we planned this day so because of them, we had a wonderful experience.

Friday Morning Lon and Craig went golfing and Farrell and AnnaVee headed to Washington.
Norma and Robbie and I headed to the Deseret Industries Store to try and find me some skirts to use on our mission. These two women were amazing shoppers. They went through every rack and found clothes for me to try on. We ended up with 6 skirts, 6 blouses or sweaters and pajamas and I only spent $50.00. I am now outfitted for our mission. Lon already has his new shirts and shoes that he needed. One more thing crossed off of our list!
That evening, we got to thinking about Ken and Bonnie and how disappointed we all were to not have them here that we decided to Facetime them. Stacy happened to be at their house so we got it all set up and were able to call them. ( My kids will be so proud that I was able to figure out what to do as Stacy had no clue)
Ken was so thrilled to see us and we had a wonderful visit with him and Bonnie. Stacy told us that he talked about this for days with a huge smile on his face. So thankful we thought to do this.

Saturday morning, the 22nd, Craig and Robbie headed for home, I headed to the Primary practice for our program tomorrow, Gene went golfing with Junior, poor Norma was left to her self, and Lon went fishing with Tracy, Chandler, and George.
The fishermen had a wonderful day, perfect weather, good company, and great fishing. They started out a little rough though. Lon forgot to put the plug in the boat and George forgot to hook up the gas line so as the boat started floating out into the water, it began filling up with water and they couldn't start the motor to get it back to shore. Tracy, Chan and George started using the oars to get it back to shore so that the plug could be put in. When they were finally fishing, Chan caught what he thought was a huge fish and was so happy but George took it off the hook and threw it back into the water. Chan was dumbfounded!
But he and Tracy soon learned that it was OK to throw back anything that was small cause there were bigger and better ones to catch.

Gene and Norma headed for home Sunday morning, the 23rd. It is always so fun to have them visit. They are so full of life and very healthy at 84.
I played for the Primary on Sunday for our Primary Sacrament Program. The kids did so good. They really sang the songs with conviction. The Primary Presidency presented me with this poster to thank me for playing and helping with the music.
It has been a fun calling. I also am the Ward Choir Director and will miss these two callings. We have one month left before we leave so our time is short with our ward callings. I will get to lead the choir for one more time in October.
On Sunday night, I got the spare bed ready for AnnaVee and Farrell to come through from Washington. They arrived about 1:30am and slept in till about 10. We fed them breakfast and they headed for home around noon.
We have been released from our 2 regular shifts at the temple starting with Oct.1st so the 25th and 26th were our last time serving with the dear people on these shifts. We will definitely miss this association with these special friends. We can sub during October if we wish to but this frees Lon up to drive in the beets and gives me time to get things done on our mission list. We finished all of our immunizations on the 30th, one more check.
We went to lunch with Ysidro and Maria Gonzales on the 29th. Ysidro had a gift certificate for the Sizzler, which is his favorite place to go.
It's always hard to believe that another month has come and gone. We only have one more month so it will be a busy one getting everything ready and leaving. Looking forward to General Conference next weekend. Hello October!
