May has come and gone. Boy how the time flies for us. We definitely haven't had time to get bored. We were able to golf together 11 times this month. On ONE day we actually took off our sweatshirts and golfed in our shirt sleeves. It has been a very windy and unseasonably cold month. We actually chose to stay home a couple of days because of the wind and then golfed on a couple of days where we were the first ones on the course and when we finished, we were still the only ones there. But we did get in our walk. The wind doesn't effect my shot at all, it is too low, but poor Lon's shot can really be changed when the wind gets the ball.
We watched Mason and Riley's games on the 5th. Both teams won. We attended Riley's game again on the 8th and they lost so they are done for the season. Mason is heading to State but we won't be able to attend but it is in Onterio so Justin and Shayla can support him up there.
Saturday the 6th was a great day for us in the Temple. We attended the sealing of Sister Francis Wayment to her deceased husband and son. An hour later, Lon was able to seal a Spanish couple to each other and then their daughter to them. I had been the attendant to the mother on Wednesday so it was very special to have Lon seal them. Love witnessing new Eternal Families. Then we subbed on the PM shift and were blessed to be able to attend the 7:00 session together. Oh, how we love serving together in the House of the Lord. We subbed on 4 days this month.
On the 9th, we finished at the temple and went out to eat at Chili's. We had a gift card from Christmas to use. Then we went to Chandler's final band concert of the year.
So hope that this boy will continue to use his music talents through High School.
Judy came over on the 12th and took Mom and I out to lunch for Mother's Day. Mom was hungry for a fish sandwich and a blizzard so we went to Dairy Queen.
It is always so much fun to spend time with my baby sister. She is so special. I love this young lady so.
That evening was the Scout dinner to raise money for new scout equipment. We had a potato bar with all the trimmings and dutch oven cobbler with ice cream for dessert. These 4 have been involved with the ward scouting program for years.

They are all on the Scout Committee now. Our turn-out wasn't as good as we had hoped. There were ball games and concerts going on at the same time and the weather was cold and nasty so the older members didn't venture out.
But we had a good time and many of the boys received awards.
Saturday morning, after Lon and Tracy and the boys golfed, we all met at Tracy's house to finish up the base board around the new flooring. I worked on latexing after Lon and Tracy installed it. We didn't get it finished this day but went over again on the 20th and got all of the baseboard down, but I don't have it all latexed yet.

It is hard when Tracy only has Saturday to work on it. He only has 2 more weeks at Post. I went over again on the 25th to try and get it all latexed but couldn't move the washer and drying so only the utility room is left.
We went to Boise on the 15th to see Scottie (dentist appointment) and Lon and Craig went golfing. Robbie and I enjoyed a quiet afternoon visiting.
We got one more item crossed off of our "bucket list" on the 22nd. We have always wanted to drive over to Jarbidge, Nevada to see what was there. Every time we head south and pass Rogerson as we head to Jackpot, the sign pointing to Jarbidge intrigues us. But we have never taken the time. So, Monday George, Kim and us headed that way after Kim got off work about 1:30pm. It was very interesting to see this area of Southern Idaho. We passed through desert with sagebrush first. I had never even been to Salman Falls Reservoir before. George and Lon go fishing there a lot and the fish are always pink-meated and great tasting. I didn't even realize that it was a dam!

The road goes right over the dam. We drove across it to head out to Jarbidge.
The water level is so high due to the snow run-off. It is so amazing to see all this water in the middle of the desert.
We came over a hill and suddenly the scenery changed to tall grass fields filled with horses and cattle. This valley is where the Swan family has a huge ranch. It was beautiful. Then we started to decent down into a narrow canyon with cedar and juniper trees and beautiful rock formations

. At Three Creek we ran out of pavement and drove on dirt roads through Murphy Hot Springs and into Jarbidge, about 30 miles. George was doing the driving and sometimes he goes just a little too fast. He didn't see the hole in the road soon enough and Kim had to brace herself so she wouldn't go through the windshield.

It was a beautiful drive.
You used to be able to drive from Elko through Jarbidge and home (Tracy and Grandpa Willis took this route once after working in Elko) The road has washed out now so the only way into and out of Jarbidge is now through Rogerson, a trip of about 65 miles total.

You don't see phone booths much anymore. We were surprised that we saw no church of any kind in town. Jarbidge used to be a mining town.
We stopped in Hollister for supper before coming home. It was a great day with good friends. I have to say though that now that we have taken the road and have it off our "bucket list" there is no reason to ever take that road again.
On the 27th we attended to funeral services for Rey Rivero. Rey painted the picture of the log cabin with the deer that hangs in our front room.

We met Rey when we served in the Spanish Branch. He and I sang a few duets together. He was a very talented man. He died from Colon Cancer. The funeral was held in Twin. I had to play the organ and Lon and I sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives".
We went to lunch with Maria and Ysidro Gonzalez after the services. We took them to the Sizzler. It was Maria's birthday. A smorgasbord is the perfect place to get Ysidro filled up. He is a very big eater. And we came home.
We had about an hour before George and Kim picked us up to go to the temple for a sealing session with our ward. They always take their car because our little car is hard for them to get into. A very full day for us.
Lon and Tracy and the boys went golfing on Monday, Memorial Day. Then we went over to have lunch with them. Ashton and his friend have been busy building a fort in one of the trees in the back yard.

We had a nice dinner and then took a walk out their back yard to see the falls.
Tracy and Sarah live right on the canyon rim. The falls have been shut down now due to all the farmers needing water for crops but there is still some coming over.

What a nice relaxing day. We spent the rest of the month, all two days of it, getting ready to go camping with George and Kim. We left on the 1st so I will tell you about that next month.

We are grateful for all that we have, especially our families. It has been a fun month. Life is good. Enjoy every minute of it.
