February 2025

Hello February!  We began the new month on the morning shift at the temple, came home for a nap and attended the Twin Falls West Stake Conference that evening.  We both had to speak.  It went well.  We were thrilled to see so many of our ordinance workers there.  

Monday morning, we woke up to snow.  Luckily the roads were quite warm, so the snow didn't stick to the roads.  We headed to Scotty's in Boise for a dental appointment.  Between stories of hunting and fishing, Scotty got Lon's tooth fixed and we went to Craig and Robbie's for a quick lunch then headed home.  We got home about 5 and prepared for tomorrow morning, our long week ahead of us, 3 am shifts and 2 pm shifts.  (only 8 early morning Wednesday shifts left😁.  That one is so hard)

The temple has been full as it is too cold to do anything else!  Lon had a Sealers Meeting on the 9th, 2 and a half hours.  He really enjoys being with these special brethren.  

We had Valentine's Day off, so we did Sealings at 2:30 and then the 4:00 endowment session.  It was a very special, relaxing day spent with my Eternal Companion. 

On the 15th Shayla and Justin's bunch came for brunch.  Gideon is in town from San Diego so we all got together to visit with him.  We brought in the picnic table so we could seat everyone.  We had about 15 people here.  Lon fixed waffles and sausage, Shayla brought her breakfast pizza and a breakfast casserole. It felt like Thanksgiving!  We were thrilled to be able to spend time with this bunch.  They left just in time for us to clean up and meet Tracy, Sarah and Ashton at the temple for the 4:00 session.  After the session, we went out for Chinese at The Peking Restaurant.  After dinner, we got back to Jerome just as the opening hymn was being sung for our Stake Conference Saturday evening meeting.  The Harris's spoke and did a great job.  Today was a very busy day, but we got it all in without cutting anything short.  

Judy, Connie and I went to lunch on the 19th.  We went to the Burger Stop.  The food was good, first time I've ever been there.  Had a wonderful visit.

Announced on the 21st that President and Sister Allen will be our next temple president and matron.  They will have 6 months with us and then their 3 years.  They are excited that they will be able to train under President Harris before they begin their service as the temple president.  They are an amazing couple who love to serve.  We are thrilled to serve with them now and will be able to serve under them.

Kent Jay Allen and Renee Haugh Allen, Kimberly 4th Ward, Kimberly Idaho Stake, called as president and matron of the Twin Falls Idaho Temple, succeeding President Reed J. Harris and Sister Kathy C. Harris. President Allen is a temple presidency counselor and former Area Seventy, Italy Milan Mission president, stake president and bishop. He was born in Salmon, Idaho, to Jesse Lawrence Allen and Laura Ellen McQuade.

Sister Allen is an assistant to the matron and former mission president companion, ward Relief Society president and ward Young Women president. She was born in Rigby, Idaho, to Leon Haugh and Sarah Fullmer.

                     

Lon heard a ruckus in the back yard on the 28th so he went to check it out.  He was met by a big German shepherd dog that would not back down or run away.  Lon came in and called the police.  two officers arrived and this is what they found.

 Someone let their pet rabbits go last year.  They have been roaming the neighborhood ever since and seem to love getting under our sheds. The dog tried to corner them, and the rabbits ran under the shed.  The dog has started to dig holes and tear off the siding to get to the rabbits.  We are going to have to set traps to catch the rabbits in order to get rid of the dog!  We think the police talked to the owner of the dog, but they haven't come by to tell us anything.  

As we were driving around today, we smelled skunk, so we know that spring is here.  The rock chucks are also out so we are expecting some warmer days, hopefully! 

And another month has come and gone.  Lon tries to watch the BYU and BSU basketball games when he can.  The temple is busy and we love our service there.  We love the people we serve with and love the people we get to serve.  What an amazing calling.  We love having time to spend with our family.  Life is good.  Spring is coming😃
