Sunday the 8th we attended church in the Sotero Del Rio Ward once more. I was privileged once again to play the piano for Sacrament Meeting. We stayed after church to attend the Ward Council meeting and explain the Capilla Abierta program to them. They have scheduled one in October.
Monday morning was cambios. It is always an adventure to see where we need to move beds and mattresses. We finished getting #147 ready for the Hermana's to move into. We now need to deliver 2 mattresses to one pension and a set of bunk beds and mattresses to another one. The President was asked to put another set of Elders in a ward by the Stake President and he did. How ever we do not have a place for them to live! The Stake President claims that it is so easy to get an apartment in this area - It took us about 6 months to find the first one here and another 8 months to find the second one in this zone. The missionaries may be living with 2 other missionaries for quite a while till we find something.
Tuesday we served in the temple. It felt good to be back, however it was very slow. After the temple we stopped by Little Caesars for a pizza to eat on our way to Jose de Maipo to deliver suitcases for Elder Alvarez who was transferred there. We just love driving through this rural mountainous area. Our first call on Wednesday came at 7:15am. The missionaries left their bedroom to workout and pulled the door shut, locking it from the inside so they couldn't get dressed when they got back. It is so sad that all of the bedroom and bathroom doors here have locks on them. The missionaries are constantly locking themselves out of some room and needing help to get back in. We spent the rest of the day doing service calls.
Thursday we went to the church next to the temple and presented our cleaning power point to the new missionaries and their trainers. We didn't get to have our normal sleep-over with these missionaries at the CCM due to the fact that the temple was still closed for cleaning. We feel bad that we don't know them at all and will have to get to know them slowly as we interact with them.
Friday was spent doing inspections and service calls. It was a very busy day and a little discouraging. We saw how the Elders had left their pension for the Hermanas to move into. The Hermanas had done a lot of cleaning already but we could tell that they were very unhappy by the way the house looked. The frig was still very scummy so we could imagine how the rest of the house had looked when they moved in. We even found the tip of a dart in the wall and holes in the wall where other darts had landed. We always feel so bad when we see the damage these young missionaries can do and the waste of "the widows mite" as we have to pay to get them fixed. We even had one of our contractors make a huge mistake today. It was a very depressing day so we headed to "Walleys" for a good American hamburger with French fries and a strawberry milkshake! Comfort food!
Today we had two service calls and then got some groceries and came home to bake cookies and make some Biscuits and Gravy.
The week really went by fast as we were on the go every day. I didn't get any pictures taken this week. Sister Petersen would be so disappointed in me because "without a photo, it didn't happen".
