We went to Wendy's with the Hughes today, Dec. 1, and this is the view from the 4th floor of the Mall that is near our apartment
We had to climb to the 4th floor of two apartment buildings today to inspect. One of the fringe benefits of our calling is that we are seeing so much of this city, as well as getting to meet the Elders and Sisters.

Luckily this building had an elevator. We are on the 7th floor this time.
We are now on the 14th floor of an apartment building. We thought that it was a school in front of us with the soccer field but - -
It is the Woman's Prison! The Elders thought this was kind of a strange view daily.
This city just goes on and on and on
We left the office to go to this pension (a 34 floor building) but the address was incorrect. We ended up 20 minutes away. We called the Elders and they told us that they were in the tallest apartment building and we had none in view. We were a half hour late. The addresses in this city are crazy. They have the exact street and house number in several areas of town and you had better have the right zone or you will end up lost. This section has been the most confusing so far. So thankful that the inspections are done here.

And there are very humble homes as well.
We testify that angels are taking care of us. We are all over this city and we know that we are being watched over. I have never been able to be on a computer for very long because I get nauseated. I am the navigator and watch the screen on the phone closely while we drive. I have to move all of the pictures we take in the pensions from our iPad onto my computer and have been on the computer for hours at a time documenting the repairs that need to be done and then Elder Thompson is on the phone organizing the repairs with the contractors. We had to get our truck emissions test done and there just happened to be a man there who spoke English and was able to help us with the paperwork needed. Miracles and tender mercies all week long. Angels are with us. Thank you all for your prayers in our behalf. We are experiencing the benefits of them.
We felt our first little earthquake on Wednesday. It only lasted a few seconds but it reminded us of El Salvador.

The wiring for both electricity and cable are as crazy as Guatemala
We see these three wheelers all over the city. Some have wooden racks on the back so they can haul anything. Some are venders selling fruits and veggies.
On our way home from the emissions test, it had rained all morning and the road side veggie stands were just being taken down. I only got a foto of the last one with cauliflower left. They had sold out of everything else. Guess we are not the only ones who don't like cauliflower.
Lon has a new tool box and a cordless drill now. Today he repaired a cabinet door and hung some lights in one of the Sister's apartments. He will do little things so we don't have to send in one of the contractors to do them. It will save the church a bunch of money. We will leave the electric and water problems to them though.
We had to climb up 6 stories to inspect one of the apartments. The power was off at the apartment building so no elevators were working.
Today, Saturday the 8th, we put on our P-day clothes and went with the Hughes to check out two apartments that are empty right now and decide if they are keepers or not. We thought that if we dressed in our p-day clothes we could pretend that we were really getting a day of rest. Ha!
The first apartment was really a small house that the Elders left filthy! It is a good house and in good shape. We are afraid to go to the house they are living in now after seeing the mess they left. With a load to the dump and a good cleaning it will be a great place for Elders again. The second one was very clean. Two Hermanas had lived there and moved to another apartment because they were being harassed by their neighbors. They left the apartment ready for someone to move into now. So now we have to meet with the President and see who he wants to move. We have several pensiones with 4 missionaries sharing the pension. We need to get that changed and only have the 2 companions living in one pension.
After the inspections, we stopped at a neighborhood ferria.

And this is cochayuya We have no idea what it is. They said it is salty and is used in salads and soups. It looked like something you would give your dog to chew on!
We ended up at the big mall for lunch at Taco Bell and shopped to find the right gift for our secret sisters that the Las Condes Zone sisters are doing.
Well, I have written enough for one week. We are prepared for our first presentation in the Nunoa Platanos Ward tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes next week. We are busy, healthy, happy, protected, and loved. We are watched over by angels. What could be better. We send our love to all. Have a great week.
