Feels so good to be home. Our adventures of June were great, but it is time to regroup and get rested up before our next big adventure in August to Alaska. But more about that in August.
The Miller's are here to get the house on the market. We had them in for BBQ on Monday afternoon. Lon then spent the rest of the day helping Drew while Karen helped me get Roku hooked up so that we have the sports channels that Lon needs when football begins and I have Hallmark. It felt like the 4th of July and we spent the 4th at their house helping them get projects done and everything ready to list the house with the realtor. I even went out on Wednesday morning to finish up the last of the projects and get them on the road to IF. It has taken us 1 1/2 years to get it on the market but it is finally done. Now we pray for a quick sale so that Drew doesn't have to keep coming back each week to water the trees.
We have been busy this month at the temple. We subbed 6 times, and even did two double shifts. We subbed for Kurt on the 18th so we did our regular Tuesday mid shift then stayed and did the PM shift right after. It felt like the mission field and we were tired at the end of the day. Sealers now have to serve on Saturdays about every 5 weeks. Lon's first day was on the 15th. He had to be there from 1 to 9 so I volunteered to help for half of the mid shift and the PM shift. It was a busy day and we are so blessed with good health so that we can serve these long hours. On the 26th, I was privileged to be the attendant for a young Spanish woman as she and her husband came to the temple for the first time to receive their endowments. Then on Saturday the 29th, Lon was blessed to be able to seal them together and their 3 children for time and all eternity. A new eternal family was created and we were able to be part of that. Wow, how we love our service in the temple!!!!
On the 10th, Lon and George began working on putting an awning over our back patio. George was given the lumber so it didn't cost too much to get the project done. George brought over his bucket truck to help lift the boards in place.
There is no way that we could have lifted those big boards without the bucket truck.
By the end of the day. all the braces were in place. Tuesday we were in the temple for our mid shift so they couldn't work on it till the morning of the 12th.
It was in the mid 90's all week so this was very hot work. But by the time we left for our PM shift on Wednesday, it was ready for the metal roof.
The finished project. It looks so nice. We are now trying to decide if we want just a swing chair or a table and chairs and a swing chair. The shade is nice for this side of the house. We can feel a difference in our bedroom and the kitchen without the hot sun shining in through the windows. Not too many stores selling outdoor furniture now though, we may have to wait till spring.

Then we went to Idaho Joe's for supper with them. We have Gene and Norma Van Wagoner coming to town on the 14th so I didn't get to spend anymore time with Sharon.
Gene and Norma were here for 10 days and we served in the temple 4 days and went to Idaho Falls 2 days. They were pretty much on their own. Junior Robinson came to breakfast and dinner each day that Gene was here too. Lon did get to golf with them a few times.

I try to golf at least three times a week with Lon, and sometimes we get in 4 times. It is our exercise as we walk 9 holes and that is usually about 4 miles. I really get a good upper body workout as I swing at least 10 times more than Lon on each hole.
Lon, George, Chandler and Cooper went fishing on the 24th. They went to Magic and had a great time. Chandler caught 3 nice fish and Lon caught one that was 3.6 pounds.

We had a fish fry at George's house before we took Chandler home.
We headed to Idaho Falls on the 20th. We went to Drew and Karen Millers house in Rigby and visited with Karen's friend who is a Nature Path. We are going to try herbs to see if we can improve our health with the natural things that our Heavenly Father has provided for us to use. We drove into Idaho Falls to meet Mindi and her family for supper.
We met at the Big Bear Dinner and enjoyed time to visit and catch up on each other's lives. These Grandchildren are growing up way too fast. Hannah has a friend from Arizona with her that now lives in IF.
We went back to Karen's to spend the night. It was so good to be with Karen. The next morning we went back to IF for breakfast with Mindi.

We sure do love this young woman. She has grown into such a great person with a wonderful testimony and love for her Savior. It is so special to be able to spend time with her. We look forward to our trip to Georgia in November and the opportunity to enjoy her company again. We have truly been blessed with 4 remarkable children, 4 amazing spouses, and 14 grandchildren who are smart, handsome, beautiful and so loving and kind. Well done parents!
We arrived home on Friday afternoon. Lon played in a golf tournament with Gene and Jr on Saturday morning and we subbed on the PM shift that evening. Sunday morning Gene and Norma headed for home and we have the house to ourselves again. I feel like we neglected our company but thank goodness they have a sister, children and grandchildren here to visit. They at least had a bed and food for the 10 days.
Norm Kump was diagnosed with cancer in March and given 6 months to live, a month later it was changed to 3 months and then it was changed to 3 weeks. We decided that we needed to go down to visit him now because we are going to Alaska the first of August and he might not be alive when we get home. We took off on July 31st and drove to Spanish Fork, Utah. Norm was having a good day and we were able to visit for about 3 hours.
His body is starting to shut down. He is so yellow as his liver is not functioning at all now. He doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain but gets tired very easily and can't walk too far.
They both have wonderful attitudes and know that Families can be together forever. Norm has enjoyed being part of all the planning for his funeral and burial. Bev says that it has been such a blessing that they got moved to Spanish Fork before this happened. She is near her children now. They have been serving on a Mission in Provo for a little over a year. We are thankful for this time to visit and say goodbye to a dear friend. How we loved our time camping and fishing. On cold dreary winter days we would go to their house and play cards and just enjoy each others company. We are going to miss this dear friend.
As another month passes away, we are reminded that our time on this earth is not known and we need to cherish every moment that we have. We want our family and friends to know that we love them and are so thankful that we have been privileged to associate with them. We are thankful that families can be together forever. We love our Savior, his teachings, and especially the Plan of Happiness. We are thankful for repentance as we strive to be like our Savior and return to live with our Heavenly Father again. Good bye to Norm, good bye to July. Our love to all.
