On July 3rd we had all of our children together except Mindi's family. Lon, Tracy, Ginger, Justin, and Shayla went golfing. Debbie spent the morning shopping and sightseeing while Sarah and I took the kids to Derkies Lake to swim. Then we all met at Tracy and Sarah's home for hamburgers and hot dogs. What fun to be with our family. Ginger, Jaikka, Debbie, Ryanne and Gideon spent a couple of days with us. We watched Riley and Chandler play baseball and just enjoyed being together.
On July 8th, Jaikka's birthday, we picked up Riley, Dillon, and Aydan in Kimberly and met everyone at the Bowladrome in Twin Falls so the kids could bowl. We had 9 of our grandchildren there. They had a ball bowling together and finally talked Grandpa into bowling with them. He ended up with the high game of 111.
We then went back to Tracy and Sarah's home for pizza and dessert and birthday presents. It is so nice to have them close with a big house and lots of yard for the grandkids to play in.
We brought Jaikka, Ryanne, Eisley, and Riley home for a sleep-over and Gideon stayed in Twin with Chandler and Ashton. The girls slept out in our "guest house" and had a wonderful time. Ryanne said it was nice cause they didn't keep us awake and we didn't wake them up in the morning.
Lon and I, Ginger and Jaikka, Ryanne and Gideon all met up with Aunt Judy and Grandma Reid at the Sizzler to celebrate Grandma Reid's birthday on the 9th. Mom's real birthday is on the 10th but Ginger and the kids are heading to Boise for the flight home today so we had to do it a day early.
We spent Friday and Saturday cooking and cleaning to be ready for our "homecoming" on Sunday. Farrell and AnnaVee are going to spend Sunday night with us. Kurt and Linda kindly offered us the use of their bigger home to have a dinner after church for all our guests who came. We were thrilled to see President y Hermana Petersen and Los Gibbons walk into the church. How we love these people!! (they are from our first mission to El Salvador). Then in walked the Roberts, Deloy and Lorna, from our Guatemala Mission.
Others who came to hear us report our mission were: Al and Trace Nickels, John and Marty Swann, Larry and Blanca Thompson, Farrell and AnnaVee Thompson, Kurt and Linda Thompson, Ken and Lynn Longmore, Sarah and the kids, (Tracy had to work), Aunt Dot Thompson, Luanna Thompson, Keith and Phyllis Thompson, Ralph and Jenny Wolverton. What a wonderful Sunday getting reacquainted with family and friends.
On Tuesday Gene and Norma VanWagner came to spend a few days with us. This is the first time we have met Gene's new wife. Norma is wonderful and we really enjoyed spending time with them. Lon is getting in quite a bit of golfing.
On Monday the 20th we headed to Burley for biscuits and strawberries with the Gibbons and Petersens.
It was nice to be able to just sit and visit with part of our family from El Salvador. Then we drove to Idaho Falls and spent the night with the Roberts. We drove to Rexburg with them to meet up with Oscar Abadillo. His parents, the temple recorder from Guatemala, had sent a package for us to deliver to him at BYU Idaho. We all went to dinner and had a wonderful visit.
I think that he was a little home sick and it was hard for him to let us go. We stopped to visit with Frank and Pauline Price on our way out of town. Frank is not doing well. He could hardly walk and is in a lot of pain. We will have to keep in touch to see what the doctors decide to do to help him.
When we got home, we received a call for us to come to the Bishop's office for an interview with Brother Merritt, counselor in the Bishopric. Lon has been called to teach the 10-11 year old boys in Primary. This will be the first time he has ever served in the Primary and he is very excited.
We have spent the month watching grandkids play ball, Riley, Chandler, and Mason. We have visited the temple several times and continue to get the house in order. But July 23rd is a RED Letter day for us. We attended a sealing session with the Millers to do some family sealings and then had an interview with President Hobbs, the Temple President. We have been called to serve as ordinance workers on the Wednesday PM shift, (Spanish shift) and on the Friday Mid shift. We are so excited and the best part is that we start tomorrow, the 24th. Yeah!! Our little temple does need us.
Gideon and Ryanne came to spend a week with us on the 26th. Chandler, Ashton and Tracy left for Scout camp so we had Eisley also while Sarah was at work. We spent one day with Justin's bunch and went to eat breakfast at Ihop and then to a movie. Gideon got to go fishing with Grandpa and George one day. We tried to make the week fun for the grandkids with trips to Derkies, time with Grandpa and Grandma Egbert, and time with the cousins when the boys got home from Scout camp. The best part of the week was when Justin and Shayla called to tell us that they had spent this week to elope. We are so thrilled for them and their children.
